This new single from Nightwish nest absolutely not surprising because It is part of the continuity of a lot of the singles group ("Nemo," "The Islander", "The Crow," "The Owl And The Dove"). A rather soft way, that should scare anyone. I want to say that this is enough "easy listening" to not scare away a lambda listener who fall across it. And even better, it could almost please her! And if he likes it, it will be entitled to this thought: "but it's not metal, that!". For the Metal, well then this is not it, this is good you never wash heard that one? Me, if What is funny is that the other side, we will have also a lot of savvy metalheads who will find that this is too soft and suddenly, they also let go the same "this is not metal, it" ( as heard: this is not metal so this is not good). Like what, everybody can end up with the same arguments to prove everything and its opposite. All that to say that this single will still run much ink (or more exactly, is going to whine many keyboards). It has even already largely begun. And the inevitable noublions not sterile debate "it was better with Tarja" (or even "make us Anette") which will go with.
In short, let all these people debate unnecessarily and return to the music.
Celtisante a melody vaguely reminiscent of "Last Of The Wilds" but less energetic introduced the song. The general atmosphere is Celtic. The song of Floor Jansen that everyone is watching the turn is too soft, it fits perfectly with the composition. She does not need to sing in strength as was sometimes the case on the live "Showtime, Storytime". Here, this is not the lyrical song, it is closer to the singing style of the last two albums. The guitar has a very secondary role, the solo is played on the flute. The chorus is well done and remains well head. In short, all the ingredients of single master key.
Let us add that the piece of the video is very nice.
The alternative version of the song is even cooler, Celtic instruments are even more emphasized and accompanying orchestrations. There is no guitar at all on this version.
The version "Radio Edit" in turn presents no great interest, as so often in such cases (it is just shortened a few seconds).
Another title, "Sagan" which will not be on the album, is very close to "Elan". It is a bit more energetic, the chorus is again well turned, Celtic instruments are forward and the solo is once again played by Troy.
One certainty to listen to these two new songs: the album will be very oriented Celtic music, what one could guess well in advance when Nightwish decided to integrate Troy Donockley as a full member. Personally i hope the rest of the album will be more dynamic than the first single but I'm not too worried about it, really. I have faith.
Deeply end of March to discover the rest!
