One vornweg, I'm an absolute amateur photographer with no professional or Amateueransprüche and have wiedermal not found a panacea for me. Nevertheless, the FZ28 is for me quite worth a recommendation.
In daylight, even make the 150-EUR Brigekameras super images. That is why it is interesting for me when the light decreases and as the cameras then respond. In general, I have found for myself that the FZ28 is very committed to making high-quality photos. The last year was indeed rather the trend, pictures at any price, in which state to make no matter. High ISO, longer exposure times often leave slurred noisy photos emerge. The FZ28 is clearly away from this trend, but does not leave him completely.
The FZ28 has a very reliable autofocus, the well focused still even in absolute darkness. Because, unfortunately, left me Casio (self-tested and rezisiert) and pointed to significant problems, especially if the declining intensity nor the use of Zoomes was added. At Canon, there are similar Rezesionen and I knew the problem already by the Canon S5 IS. Because of this and in conjunction with the significant additional cost for flying me out value for the reasons Casio from the wish list. The FZ28 contrast showed quite unimpressed and just focused everything you came before the lens. A definite plus, because if you at a party just always triggering want and half of the photos is a flat rate blurred because the autofocus was overwhelmed, it's just annoying.
Granted, what regrets in other recessions in part, it comes sporadically to blurred images, even though the focus was green. This happened to me on the last Christmas just 1 time. However, if at 300 photos 2-3 images are focused wrong, is that acceptable to me. The Casio FH20 and Canon S5 had since significantly more failures and often blurred abandoned red front herrein with focus!
Those who like to provide automatic and just want press the shutter button, is almost not passing the Panasonic. Not only do they make good photos in the iA mode on its own, it recognizes in addition, the situations and adapts to it. The camera treats a landscape from the front herrein different than when she realizes that people are to be photographed. She also recognizes when daylight and night when image is captured. So whoever is angry about red eyes, will find with the FZ28 never that because the camera at recognizing faces automatically activates the portrait mode and automatically turns on a red-eye, they sparrt in landscape mode logically. It is worth mentioning in this context that the FZ28 even without the pre-flash does not produce red eyes as the camera this digitally retouched.
Unfortunately, the iA but also its drawbacks. While the FZ28 standard hardly goes beyond ISO250, it reacts in the MEMBERS PROGRAMS differently and then allowed higher ISO numbers. Thus, the iA mode turned on in the evening at a party, when recognizing faces, like in Night portrait mode. This is expected to produce natural colors with higher ISO (400) and longer exposure times. Is also true, when would move as portraits, nobody. At a party, but then arise quickly and annoyingly movement veil. This should let Panasonic and shoots in my opinion out over the target. Natural colors you can accomplish just about evening bounce flash (eg with the Canon SX10 and einenm external flash). Everything else looks unnatural and blurred out. I go to parties in the P mode and leave everything on automatic. Flashed photos are color unnatülich, but better than blurred.
For image quality I can only say that she could convince me in the FZ28 consistently. Noise I can discover even at ISO fortuitous, nor on any image. Strangely, there was Distinguish in noise reduction. In low ambient light photographed from 2-3m distance in high-speed flash mode with ISO1600 a person produced a neat sharp image of the person. A dancing couple in the same mode of about 6-8m distance was suddenly quite blurred (vermatscht). The high-speed mode without a flash in a well-lit volleyball indoor tournament was back in reasonable quality. The dancing couples then the high sensitivity mode with flash (ISO4000!) Showed again as useful. Clear, High image with restrictions, but photo books or prints to 10x15 size quite usable.
The fact that the screen is not foldable, is a pity. But Panasonic has a fade mode for the LCD display, which can be activated by Quick Menu, and then the display makes surprisingly easy to read for overhead photographs.
Most common being bother me in the FZ28 really only the panasonictypische Li-Accu (AA accus were dearer to me) and all software-related limitations. Why I can not use the digital zoom in the iA mode? Why can not I the shutter sound in iA mode off not directly but must go to the P mode, which then shuts down for the iA mode, the shutter sound? There are a few other things, which was not understandable for me, which is that Menu panasonictypisch but generally very good use.
In summary, I'll keep the Panasonic and can recommend it only. Because it does not only in good weather, good images. Even if the limits of photography (light deficiency, said nothing to photograph situations) goes and as I do not want to go to the expensive heavy SLR, get a thoroughly grown-reliable camera, which additionally offers a lot Programe, which then additionally help yet. On the last concerts I have repeatedly seen a lot of people who tried more or less successfully with their cell phones or mini cameras to take pictures of the bands. The ZZ28 provided here in the high sensitivity mode quite nice 3 MP images. Nix for glossy magazines, but much of its own photo collection.
