After downloading the Linux driver (Debian packages) from the Brother website the establishment under Linux Mint (Debian packages) also functioned properly (instructions follow).
About the mobile app (Brother iPrint) to PDFs and emails can (unfortunately only from Gmail Accs) print well.
Photos can of course print, but typical laser printer is not in really good quality (light banding).
The duplex printing works fine.
Envelopes (eg DIN long (DL)) can also be printed without any problems.
For envelopes or thicker paper / cardboard you just remember to use the bypass tray and open the rear exit, so that the material to be printed is not diverted and verknickt over the rollers. But it also indicates a printer or the software.
Cheap replacement toner are already available. About the quality I can not say anything, but for normal text prints it certainly should be enough.
High quality printing for photos, dissertations and other academic work should seek to create mostly eh cheaper and quality incl. Cover in local copy shops.
I am with what you would expect from a mono laser printer, completely satisfied.
PS:
Before that, I sometimes used an inkjet printer. Since I have him for a long time but not required (> 9 months), the fixed print heads have become unusable and an exchange would no longer worthwhile.
Before that I owned before an ancient, disused office laser printer (HP LaserJet 2100). Even very long service life (> 1 year) have the printer and the toner not harmed. From the printer but I have separated myself, because he had only one parallel port, and survived his time had by far (about 15 years);)
