This lens gets me is why not 5 stars because there was nothing wrong with him, but because it exactly meets the purpose for me, for I bought it: It is an adequate replacement for the standard kit lenses 18-55 and 55 -200, which would probably otherwise cover this focal length range (with the same luminous intensity). After I was able to try different lenses, I can say that can keep 18-200 VR II very good compared. Even my 35-mm fixed focal length (no added Hammer lens, would have to take the 50), does not provide a sharper and better color results. Vignette: Moderate. Not more than the other "cheap" zoom lenses with focal lengths less spectrum. Distortion: undoubtedly exist Fringing: That seems to be the main weakness (if you shoot in RAW). The CA's are too strong for my taste in the border area, in all focal areas. The weaknesses mentioned can be a useful RAW developer (currently in my case, Photoshop / CameraRAW.) Very good balance; who photographed in JPEG, receives the color fringing and vignetting anyway right out corrected (works in most cases). Good lens that covers most everyday applications. I would buy the lens at any time.
