Herz ist Trumpf - The Best of Achim Reichel (Audio CD)

Customer Review

In a time long before today's Internet download stores I lay me this album actually only to finally have "Aloha Heya He" in my possession, which I then needed to sound various parties. So I came up with no intention for the first time with various solo works Achim Reichel in touch, I still did not know except the already mentioned fete firecrackers and the melancholy "Flying Horses".

To what extent this selection is representative of the many years of work of the hamburger, I can lack overview of the oeuvre of the Master not to say. Personally, I feel the quality of the compilation somewhat variable. The bittersweet "True Love" is one next to the pithy "Amazons" definitely on the winning side, as well as the resultant in the Greenpeace-commissioned "Exxon Valdez" (maybe a little too bold) and "The Gambler". The "Rain ballad" is still able to produce even after 30 years creepy shower and Fontane-setting "Herr von Ribbeck Havelland" just makes you feel, just like you "Kuddel Daddel You" can sing along just fine in being rustled state. The two department store Stories "On the escalator" and "Smile it out (it's Christmas)" go okay, but the rest I can not do anything.

The informative booklet contains a short anecdote about each song. So you can learn more about the background and the emergence of time represented songs. A "Best of", the non-experts often encouraged to buy a very commendable addition. Therefore, an extra point.
