I recently tried a few AV receiver after my Sony STR-DN1040 is broken. I own the Jamo HCS 606 set, without a subwoofer and was in terms of the sound, very satisfied with the Sony, because he acted very powerful and highly differentiated and balanced yet in the high ranges of sound. Have a 38m² living room and never even begin missing a subwoofer for movies. In the passages for which it was due, the bed has only wobbled through the floor-standing speakers)
At first I said to myself: "Never again Sony" - so I've tested other receiver. Also present were:
[B] Pioneer SC-1223: [/ b]
From the sound I found it (surprisingly) very cautious, very dynamic, little punchy, no matter what settings you have rotated.
[B] Yamaha RX-V775: [/ b]
Well .. a shame the high areas sounded really good, balanced, detailed and warm ... but you could coax him no bass. And specially still purchase a powered subwoofer I wanted then not yet.
[B] Denon X3000: [/ b]
3000 because I need 2 HDMI outputs, otherwise well sonically similar to the X2000. The 4000s not because simply too expensive and because I always do not use Einmessysteme who had for me no added value. SUPER sound anyway, both in the film as well as in stereo mode, but "something" bassarm. Not quite as much as the Yamaha, but he did not manage to connect with the deep bass of Sony.
Since I the STR-DN10 [b] 50 [/ b] have found for a good price (525), I thought to myself: "Ok, give him a chance."
[B] Processing: [/ b]
On a similar level to the 1040, almost identical, I would say, outside has not done much. 1 HDMI input was wegdezimiert, a (third) output was added. Ok .. you can find as you like.
[B] Technique: [/ b]
Included is now finally Bluetooth, which the German 1040er was not indeed the case. So nice. However, I use most airplay. Also, the OSD has become "more" prettier since most manufacturers can a slice cut (up to H & K). 7x165 Watt also remained.
[B] Remote Control: [/ b]
Yes, that is new. What I found with almost all (except for the Denon X3000): The remote controls are packed with buttons, of which I only use a fraction. Therefore, [b] I think [/ b] the step to such a stripped-FB really good, even though other mögen.v see it that way for the much tinkerer then that probably means more work with the OSD;)
Sound:
There it is again, the Bass. Really great! I missed all competitors! The higher frequencies sound, compared with the 1040er, more harmonious and warmer and also nerves not at high volume. He plays really very harmonious and reminds me a bit to the sound of the Denon, just stop with more balanced bass. I tested early scenes of "The Dark Knight", "Iron Man" and the concert "Josh Groban: Awake Live".
A friend laughed at me, that I bought a Sony receiver because he anything from Sony holds a) and b) quite certainly not in AV receivers (he has a H & K AVR 370). However, when he was with me and we looked at on an evening "Obilivion", he was blown away, because he had already tested the film home on his conditioning, but was far more enthusiastic by the sound of Sony. Go then;)
I for one can the Sony STR-DN1050 recommend also to the 1040er a leap forward. I hope that this now holds for more!
