Sony Tablet Z LTE - good, but not more.

Perhaps initially equal to point out that after 2 years, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 now my second tablet is already ... and I the new with the old comparisons. Maybe that's why my enthusiasm somewhat more restrained. With us in the household there are also two more tablets from Acer and Samsung, which I will then not use here for the evaluation with. But the Samsung GTAB 10.1 has arrived yet, even if a bit aged, still a good reference.

Housing:
simple and good - as expected. I hope, in particular the USB flap lasts a tablet life. At the processing date I have nothing to complain about. The is good to very good!
Clear the Sony Tablet is a bit easier and a bit slimmer than the also very compact GTAB 10.1 - but the old GTAB nevertheless sums up the material quality of her still!

Ergonomics:
Even the GTAB is a 10 "device. However, the total is GTAB not as wide as the XTZ. Therefore, the GTAB can better operate with two thumbs. The GTAB so I like better also more of the basic ergonomics, since I was a" two- Thumb Tipper "bin.

Screen:
No Question! They like it when you get used to the image of the XTZ no longer look at the GTAB. The colors, the details (with restrictions see below), the contrasts and the viewing angles are fantastic. From a kolportierten here yellowness I can absolutely see nothing.
But the picture should not be too euphoric one: almost anything to get displayed is interpolated to higher resolution because the surfaces are natively halt all programmed with a lower resolution. To be sure, one can not blame the hardware and the interpolation works well.

Software implementation:
Sorry, but I'm very disappointed with the hakeligen surface in the Android implementation by Sony. As before it hakelt in the original Samsung interface on the GTAB indicated on the XTZ despite huge hardware resources but, especially when many apps and widgets are on the home screen.
So I have, as already previously installed the GTAB me on the XTZ after a day immediately Alternative Nova Louncher .... and everything is wonderfully smooth !!!! Incredible! So, try out the Nova-Louncher; It is worth it! The root is not as easy to install as an app.

Working speed:
Much faster than my old GTAB! But everything else would be more than disappointing been.
Everything goes quickly to the point - no waiting times. On erlebbarsten is the speed increase when installing apps that now goes much faster by equip. Obviously, the built-in memory is really fast!

Endurance / durability:
Second big disappointment! Without that enabled some auxiliary circuits then temporarily disable any services that the fun is over quickly. At medium intensity of use and switched on the LTE Tab lasted only 1.3 days. My GTAB 10.1 maintains the same usage (but with UMTS) yet easy four days! Clear the battery capacity is slightly lower at Sony, but the drastic difference is thus not explained.
First I have therefore LTE disabled. Behold now the XTZ already held a little longer, so at the 2 days. But the Deep Sleep share also was only a meager 20%.
After all, a little better; BUT: why did I actually spent the money for LTE, if I have to turn it off?
But two days are me actually too little, so I have now switched on LTE further activate the Stamina mode, which stops with the screen switched all possible active processes, but above all the whole data service and data connections. That brings some disadvantages with it, because the device is functionally almost shut. But the data connections enable on switching at least back so fast that you can then also immediately losarbeiten again. Now the tab holds at least for 3 days. The Deep Sleep is rated at about 70% - a significant increase. In order here again to draw the conclusion direct comparison to its predecessor: Without that I have to turn off the GTAB anything, the Deep Sleep share here is approximately 80%. Something's not right so during software implementation. Supposedly it is supposed to be better at Sony with Android 4.3.

Others:
The implementation of the IR remote control is well done. You get almost a universal remote control "for free" with it. This is necessary because unfortunately the XTZ is the only tablet that I know where the Fernbedienungsapp for my LG TV (via IP) is not working. The Play Market says not compatible. Too bad, because the home runs on the three tablets from Acer and Samsung perfectly.
That is accepted in LTE device in the additional memory cards only FAT32 is actually a hammer. So far for me the impact due to my usage behavior but rather irrelevant. But who likes to watch HD movies on this tablet and before had on the ext. To save SD card, which should now wg. the 4GB limitation be disappointed. Even more upsetting when this bug, there is the LTE device only possible with 16GB of internal memory!
The cameras do when there is sufficient light, pretty good images - in low light noise but despite this Exmor sensor like hell! That made the "normal" image sensors in GTAB NMM better!

my conclusion:
Who wants LTE and high resolution, has currently in the Android world is no alternative!
Despite various shortcomings - I'm not going to return the XTZ. The great screen and the increased speed of operation compensate much. The alternatively installed Nova Launcher also ironed out the weaknesses of the original surface of Sony skillfully.
Ultimately, I hope for a better new Android version of Sony. So I expect to be doing their homework - and as fast as possible! expensive enough, the tablet is yes!
Since the XTZ was very effusive but praised as the new star in the sky tablet of experts and press in advance, I am now of the earthly reality but even to some extent disappointed.
