Otherwise:
New firmware 2:20 (currently 2.70): the clock can now be completely and without "memory loss" again (hold down light button) to turn.
Display above (Training mode): Distance (km, fix, resolution 10m), down: average speed (km / h) or Average Pace (min / km selection via menu) based on the distance traveled or the distance traveled within the interval (manual Lap or AutoLap, this selection: 400m, 500m, 800m, 1000m, 1500m, 2000m, well audible signal at interval boundary interval values are then displayed for 5 seconds). No instantaneous values (Speed., Pace) or altitude because u with GPS. Low speed eh too imprecise and therefore generally useless.
Calorie consumption: is calculated even without pulse belt, then variables: route length, weight, sex, age, height and activity class (Pace and route profile matter).
Auto Stop: has not the clock, but you can manually pause filters (Start / Stop). And if you take forgets to press at the traffic lights on pause: in the subsequent analysis in eg "Garmin Connect" (online software) of the standstill is corrected from "Avg Pace." Incl pause excl. "Avg Moving Pace." . Pause.
Accuracy of the track record: the option "exact second recording" or "intelligent recording" (.. Recording only when changing speed o Direction o heart rate, etc.) as the larger models (205, 305, 310, 405, 610) exists in the not 110. Zooming in recorded tracks can but involved an intelligent recording. The algorithm for track recording, however, is good and seems better than the 210, there will probably save space because of the greater range of functions. Deviation: of 10 km is about 100 m "too much" is displayed, from 42.2 km have been on my clock is always "reliable" 42.6 km. That's slightly worse than that of a 305 with second-exact recording.
Cold start and reception: the (new) SiRFstarIV chipset and InstantFixII / Garmin's HotFix very rapid localization (especially compared to the 205/305, they still have the old SiRFstarIII chipset.), Good reception performance, no signal demolition even in narrow corners, never "outliers" in the recording had.
Miscellaneous: no software CD, new firmware via WebUpdater, "Garmin Training Center" (desktop software) immature, better "Garmin Connect" (online software) or external solution (eg sport tracks, perfect combination / addition, many additional data in the evaluation you do not really need in the display while running). Pulse belt works properly, not sensitive to moisture as the expensive textile belt Garmin pulse function can also be disabled in the clock menu. No navigation function, who needs that even while jogging? Color: the clock is slightly lighter (gray) as shown. Extremely compact: 4.5cm wide, 1.4cm thick, 51Gr. easily.
Positives:
+ Extremely compact and lightweight (and beautiful) for a GPS clock
Very easy to read, + excellent display contrast and illumination
+ Very solid bracelet, clock makes a robust impression
+ New SiRFstarIV chipset and InstantFixII, therefore:
+ Good reception (compared with Garmin 205/305 and Conrad MULTI NAV-2, identical Ultra Sport 8in1)
+ Fast satellite positioning (compared to)
+ Future firmware updates (but) even more features (?)
Negatives:
- Not waterproof, only IPX7 (protection against temporary immersion), therefore:
- Condensation problems (display fogs in the cold / high humidity from the inside)
- Lean Documentation
- Minimalist functions
- No heart rate zone / alarms adjustable
- Grey buttons sluggish
- Garmin Training Center (desktop software) unausgereift
- To handle terminal clamp cumbersome
Update: August 2014
------------------
Even after 4 years of intensive use (4-5 times a week) shows the clock no weaknesses, the capacity of the battery is still good and sufficient for my personalized management (max. Marathon) without being scarce. The condensation problem is with the "treatment" as described no longer an issue. The sensitivity of the GPS receiver is first class: last the clock has on the plane the satellite fix implemented (by the window) at 11km altitude within a few seconds (in comparison: Samsung smartphone, no satellite fix). Unfortunately, the heart rate transmitter has passed after 3 years.
