Eleven years after her first remix reanimation the 6 Californian Linkin Park have now published their second official remix album Recharged (= recharging).
Since this is a daring reinterpretation of songs by Living Things is, and the band never proclaimed something else here now no one should complain (you could all the songs in full length already on the website of the band hear in advance) that Linkin Park on this album not as Linkin Park sound (must find one bad album yet, but who has bought the famous pig in a poke, is frankly, blame themselves).
Linkin Park does not sound like on A Thousands Suns, and certainly not like on the debut Hybrid Theory. And also do not like to resuscitation. The latter album breathed the NuMetal songs from Hybrid Theory through a hip-hop-heavy interpretation new life. HipHop is not nearly as mainstream as yet early 2000s. Electronic Music, with harder and faster beats celebrated a comeback in recent years. Accordingly, the songs sound on Recharged way. One can call it commercialism or just accept that music is like in waves and goes and bands are influenced by it. I think it's absolutely legitimate and even brave of LP, what they deliver here. Hopefully soon come back a NuMetal wave, which then in turn other songs are reinterpreted in the course ;-)
Generally, I expect a remix album, whatever the musical reorientation may be, that you as a listener still feel that an old song has been reinterpreted. It may sound different and new, but not completely deny their own roots. As a listener, I think you should always know immediately what song was ever remixed. This is the case with Recharged.
This is already reflected in the design of the cover. Color and mood seem to be in two albums the same, with the difference that the person or figure seems to rise at Recharged and hovering above it all, while she's still been a faceless figure in Livings Things.
I can advance to say that without exception clear rumble all the songs from the speakers and excellent work has been done in the studio. I honestly at a band like Linkin Park, with their budget and their reputation, but also not expected anything else.
A Light That Never Comes: 4/5
The only new song on the album. Personally, I've never heard of the band so. Total electric Lastig (no wonder, since the collaboration with Steve Aoki was) invites the song to heavy partying on the dance floor in the disco next one. A song with catchy potential, which I like even good. Above all, then, if I do not waste no thought that the song of my favorite NuMetal-, alternative band comes ;-)
CASTLE OF GLASS: 2/5
Okay, first remix: From now on I do not mention that the songs are totally electronically. This applies easily to all the songs. There are many Dupstep, House, Trance and even Speedcore elements have been processed. Electric songs have indeed the characteristic that they are in their length usually above average. From the right crisp Castle of Glass was a 6-minute disco number. It is difficult to explain why you think this song does not tear me from the stool. I also like electronic music, because it is not. But the vocals on the original was so gentle and soft and it is also in the remix, so the brute beats little match the singing and acting colossal disturbing.
LOST IN THE ECHO: 2/5
The intro was so electronically to Original. So actually a logical continuation. Wrong! Was the song on Living Things due to momentum and hardness of the rape of Mike still my favorite, the remix is a total flop. The song was slow and the Rap strangely distorted. Electronic banter and a barren interlude take the song any momentum and speed.
Victimized: 3/5
WOW! I thought at first hearing. What were hard drums and aggressive guitar before, now is an extremely fast, aggressive beat. Sounds very much like Speedcore. This style of music one can only love or hate (I do not like him). And so Victimized appears really like a logical development. So a crass interpretation I would have credited the band NEVER. Very brave. There were also NEN extra point.
ILL BE GONE: 4/5
A midtempo piece with a strong Rappart from Pusha T. electric strikes Rap and Rap Chester's vocals. Successful Remix.
LIES GREED MISERY: 1/5
Terrible, if one takes the original as a benchmark. Chesters cry from the original is here strangely stalled abruptly and replaced by electronic passages. Only proof that Screaming just really can have a lasting effect on rock music.
ROADS untravelled: 4/5
So I thought before Listen, how are you going to remix a brilliant ballad with almost frail vocals electronically? The good thing is, the band has maintained the slow pace of the original reasonably in the chorus. That sounds really quite chilling. The ohhhhhh Ohhhhh Part is anyway for an electronic interpretation. Again, in the middle towards a really good Rappart!
Powerless: 4/5
Here I like the remix for the first time a lot better than the original. But this may also be because I do not find the original so great. The electronic accompaniment (this time klingts like trance) gets the song a new dynamic. That can really feel any different.
BURN IT DOWN: 3/5
Just a solid redesign of the song. Here elements were processed out of the trance again. I think the same way would have an electronic version of an original work of famous DJs can look.
UNTIL IT BREAKS: 1/5
Just boring. This is the song but already in the original. Both versions bob so to himself and actually you're glad when it is over, if you have not been already geskipped him.
SKIN TO BONE: 1/5
Rappart at the beginning, was originally known otherwise. After that, I do not know where the song is going. Here I had exactly the same feeling as I had back then when I heard Limp Bizkit's terrific lousy Remix Album. Opaque, goal- and unloving.

Much quieter and slower than the album opener. Also much unelektronischer. And I must admit that my electronic version much better like. Perhaps it is also because I had present from the very beginning only the dance number in the ears.
Who can I recommend this very daring album then?
1. Honestly; all fans of electronic music! It is based on this style of music, really varied and very well produced. Who never Linkin Park has heard, because he is not on rock music, should definitely check it out here. WITHOUT worth hearing.
2. Allen hardcore fans of the band that does not completely reject the electronic influence. LIMITED worth listening to because a lot of songs in the original are just 1000 times better.
3. people who stand on made good remix albums, which were not completely alienated in the core, but were still interpreted very differently.
Allen pure fans of rock and alternative music is saying, Let only your fingers off! So I have to be honest to the band as a fervent supporter. Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and others already deceased rock legends can be happy that they no longer have to experience that.
I forgive 3 stars. It is from the standpoint of the Remix probably even a very good album (I had described my criteria for it). I liked a few songs even better than the original, but in my eyes too much idle between. The absolute About Kracher I seek in vain for the album.
