Haptics / general processing:
The Flip Case is the outside of a smooth black leather. The seams are perfect and there is now nothing. The inside of the cover consists of a soft brown suede (or similar material). Again, there is the material and at the seams faulted. The actual support for the S3 is realized with the help of a black plastic, which is firmly bonded to the rear wall. Here no uneven gaps or any traces of glue can be seen. At the top of the leather cover within a tab, a magnet, with the flip case can be closed. All in all, the first impression is very good. The case is well made and acts very classy. Also very important: it comes only from a discreet smell of leather from Flip Case - no stench!
Fit:
The Galaxy S3 fits perfectly pure in the plastic bracket. There nothing wobbles and the smartphone sits perfectly. At the same time there are in the right places recesses for the connections. It should, however be noted that the USB / charging socket can only be used with the lid open, because here no recess in leather is available.
So far so good, unfortunately, but I am not satisfied with everything. Below my criticisms.
Deductions:
1) The opening for the headphone port is unfortunately failed too small. There many jacks that have a slightly thicker sheath problems. I have eg two headphones with angled jack - unfortunately both do not fit through the opening, just another headset with straight plug. The original headphone from S3 with its thinly sheathed straight plug will fit easily on the other hand - by the way even with the Flip Case.
2.) Unfortunately, the Galaxy S3 is not optimally protected. The smartphone does not sit entirely within the plastic holder, but is rather on top. Only at the two lower corners and at the top center of the plastic is pulled higher and bracketed the S3 firmly (and only the side). The plastic is therefore nowhere higher than the edge of the Galaxy S3 or even the actual touch screen, in other words, the only protection for the edge and the top of the smartphone is the leather cover of the Flip Cases. This lid is closed as mentioned above with the help of a magnet. The magnet is designed more for an easy opening and closing because of a stable protection against a possible fall down the Galaxys. The lid would thereby move very light and offer no more protection.
Conclusion:
The Flip Case looks elegant and is apparently well very well made up, as long as the can say after a week. Operation of the S3 is no problem. The smartphone is protected against scratches, however, only to slip out of your hand should it not be better. The opening for the headphone jack has failed too small for many alternative headphones. Overall, therefore, a conditional purchase recommendation, if you can live with the criticisms. From me there's two star deduction.
