First impressions: The clock itself makes a good impression, perhaps is a bit bulky. Whether and how much less they could have done, of course, I can not say. The screen is a little grainy, but it served its purpose fully. Probably a larger and higher resolution screen would have gone to the expense of battery life and the clock would unnecessarily expensive. No medal without downside.
Included is a black rubber strap with buckle that for thicker arms, however, is too short. While further holes in the bracelet are indicated for this purpose, however, which must be punctured manually with a sharp object. According to modest looks the result and it also gives the impression not that it would last. In addition, rubber is naturally slightly breathable and you pretty sweat under the strap. For this reason, the included bracelet for me is nothing more to enable as a way to immediate Intended commissioning of the SmartWatch as a watch - which is perhaps a shortcoming, but not so bad, because also is supplied with a metal part with two pins, on which you can unclip as when supplied Armbannd, the clock. This part can be used with any 20mm wristband and that works pretty well. When it became clear to me that I keep the clock, I let me immediately a mount made of metal, which corresponds to my arm circumference, elegant looks and which one does not sweat. Costs including installation point: about 25 that you should take into account in any case when you buy the clock.
The charging cable has a proprierätren plug, which is clamped to charge under the clock. The plug is held solely by the clip of the clock. The connection might like to be a little safer, but basically okay if you take the clock for charging the bracelet. Advantage of this solution: The small watch case is marred by any disfiguring Micro-USB connector.
The SmartWatch: The commissioning was simple: install Lifeware Manager, turn on Bluetooth, connect with clock (Galaxy Nexus). To this end, there is really not much to say. If the wireless connection temporarily times tearing, Find Phone and clock rather quickly with each other. By default, no applications installed. However, these can simply be activated on the mobile phone and possibly reloaded from the PlayStore. By Suchbegrif "SmartWatch" one finds numerous applications - and not just Sony, but also from third-party developers. I'm curious, what is still to come. Otherwise, the clock does what it should and what the manufacturer promises. The screen can be had not only by pressing the Power button, or double-tap switch, but also by shaking the clock. This usually works pretty well.
Through two updates (which has not yet given it at the time of critical Amazon reviews) Sony has two criticisms removed, which were addressed more frequently: By now the time is still displayed after the demolition of the radio link, which was not previously the case. In addition, the clock is running much more stable. At first she was irritated with frequent crashes that have manifested in the fact that the clock has started suddenly new. Now everything is fine.
I especially like the ability to be able to read the clock SMS. Often there are messages that only need to be noted simply. Since it is very convenient to be able to leave the phone in your pocket. The call signaling is also very convenient. I work a lot with customer contact. For incoming calls, you can not reject such an urgent talks with tap on the clock quickly and discreetly.
When cycling the music player application is very beautiful: With it, Skips and volume adjustments are invalid. In addition, you can start and stop playback. The disadvantage, however, the poor visibility of the screen in this case already with mediocre sunlight and the little fiddly screen buttons. So you have to settle something. Weather and slideshow (viewing photos on the clock) are nice gimmicks and belong. Clear match the photos do not fit on the screen and certainly leaves the screen size and resolution conditionally not particularly high richness of detail, but the application works well and is a nice gimmick.
Not so nice, I find that only Google-mails are signaled on the clock. Although the SmartWatch with all Android phones works from version 2.1, the signaling of other e-mail accounts only Sony smartphones is reserved. I think that's a real shame and I hope that in the foreseeable future corrective action is taken.
I charge the battery every 3-4 days, where I turn off the clock overnight. So that's also fine. Of course, a single charge can last longer or shorter, depending on how intensively you use the SmartWatch.
Conclusion: After a somewhat bumpy start, over which I have overlooked largely given my enthusiasm about this nice accessory, the Sony SmartWatch has proven to be valuable and clever complement to my Android smartphone. With the right bracelet she is good even as a fashion Accesoire. I would buy this clock on each case again. She keeps its promises and I'm eager to see how the offer of applications will develop. A Whatsapp notification function would be, for example, is still a very useful addition. What is annoying and remains, the poor readability of the screen is already at moderate sunlight. Who can arrange it, but does nothing wrong. The price is reasonable, about 25 euros for a bracelet you should however take into account.
