The previous owner of my home had 30 ceiling spotlights with 50W halogen spotlights built in 1980 in the bathroom and two living areas: beautiful light, but nowadays very expensive to operate. Tentatively, I have a train on which hang 4 spotlights, converted to the Philips CorePro with 5W. Although only replace 35W spotlight, but I had hoped you would see no difference to the yes not even dewy 50W halogen. But that is not the case, the light is slightly turbid and very yellowish. On the positive side, they fit perfectly with 50mm diameter in the ceiling versions with snap ring and to the old ring transformer prepare no problems with flickering etc. By Philips there in the Master Series LEDs with 10W for MR16 versions that replace 50W halogen, but who have active, whirring fan that does not fit in the living area.
Conclusion: My impression is no LED solution for large-scale 12V ceiling spotlights in the living room in perspective.
