Why?
- Because it is very solid (I added it just a shell "Grip Shell" Motorola Original, which replaces the original instead of putting on top like that, there is no more " big "): it dropped by approx. 1.5 meters of tile, not a scratch!
- Because it is fast: with Android "pure" interface, constructor of additions (unlike Samsung and others), it goes straight to the essential, without risk of being wrong or inadvertently activate a function unwanted. And 3G is on this model, fast (it has 2 lines, SFR and "Free"). The SIM dual function is impeccable.
- Because it is fluid: with 1 GB of RAM to run it, I never found jerks or extended wait using apps or the Internet. With the update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the new telephone interface is very intuitive, with contacts without photo displayed by their initial. Time saver! And if something is missing, the Play Store is there ... Last note: it can transfer some apps to SD card. Indeed, some settled there automatically. Therefore, 4 GB of memory for apps are slower saturated than on other Android smartphones entry, that only allow to transfer photos and videos to SD. Namely: the 4GB, only 2.16 GB are available to the user. But with the transfer to SD, it does not leave a lot of room in reality.
- Because it is autonomous: for my use, the battery lasts 2 times longer than the phone provided by my employer, a Galaxy S4!
A word on the screen: large enough (more than competitor comparable price), well detailed (you can not see the pixels, reading is very comfortable), bright, and colors "right" (neither too much nor too saturated enough). Viewing angles are excellent, it is surprising for a mobile that range. Similarly, it is very responsive: you do not notice delay between an action with one or more fingers and its effect on the screen.
The negatives? Well, we must honestly look ... The Moto E is one of the best phones I've owned. The only function behind other on this model is the camera. There are none on the front, so bye-bye Video Skype for example. And one on the back is correct for snapshots outside, but forget for indoor photos with bad lighting in the room, or pictures of objects "almost" because it has no autofocus. By cons, you can take pictures without problems of A4 size documents, it is very readable (with the 5 megapixels). The videos are also struggling with passable, but fortunately, not jerky. In short, it is at a Nexus S, but he had a flash that is lacking in Moto E.
In conclusion, for 119 euros, nothing to add: it's perfect!
Much is said that his main competitor is its big brother, the Moto G. Yes, it is 150 euros instead of 120, which is not huge. By cons, we must see that 1 / it is more imposing, so less easy to carry around in a trouser pocket for example; 2 / the model at this price has no expandable memory, and has only 5.5 GB for the user; 3 / it has no dual-SIM. What stopped me are the points 1 and 2. I have no regrets. And for future buyers, the Moto E should be at least 100 euros soon ... (commentary written in late July 2014).
