Nearly two years after the rapid debut came with the successor "Hell Awaits", a similar underground success, as with the debut. Altogether nine times gas woks, at least half of the published rough diamonds are classics of Slayer. Musically moving Californians - alternately - the fast and mid-tempo, another important aspect for those discs of the band, which also apply after three decades as a reference work of thrash and as such also called love, but also a little to be laughed at. In particular, the work on the drums should be mentioned; what Dave Lombardo is fabricated on this disc sensational, especially he mastered the bass drum technique very mature and impressive. But even his bandmates, Tom Araya, Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman of unfortunately recently deceased afford all the work on their instruments. The lyrics are again of occult themes, Satanism and blasphemous, which coined Slayers gloomy style especially in these days. The local press had to distribute in advance a few Vorschlusslorbeeren because the group at that time was still quite unknown, which should, however, change abruptly with "Reign in Blood" .....
