Arto Paasilinna mania black humor and humor short while masterfully, each page pulls at least a smile which is somewhat paradoxical as we are in the company of a band of depressive seeking only an ideal place to end this life they find unbearable! The author also distills many pikes against the Finnish company and society in general, ridiculing the foibles of indigenous countries crossed and his compatriots; critics are distilled with finesse, without seeming to touch it, and hit the spot every time. The hairline style leaves an easy reading, the chapters are short, the book reads very fast and seems to be written with disconcerting ease (which is evidence of the hard work of the author). A must-read novel, he is so funny and fresh, irresistible for lovers of tongue-in-cheek and Monty Python.
