Customer Review

Actually, I could write down here the same text as in the TZ 61, because neither optical nor the content seems to have changed nothing at first glance. The second look brings but then a couple of things to light. Immediately notice the new handle on the front. The small rubber web on the TZ 61 had me rumgetatscht from the outset an eyesore, with my big fingers I have more on the case. Now you finally is great in your hand and you can sometimes easily shoot a while with one hand, without disfiguring the body with sweaty hands (especially in summer). When electronic viewfinder in the top left corner on the back also has done. On the one hand this has got now missed a practical eye sensor, which can be as well off (which I welcome because it sometimes very bothers me when changing at the slightest movement between the display and viewfinder back and forth). On the other hand, the number of sub-pixels has been increased dramatically. Satte 1.16 million pixels (with the TZ 61 there were only 201000). The falls a bit, but the "wow" effect remains, since the viewfinder is still much too small. On sunny days, but certainly strong again a good help. The display also has something "pimped". 1.04 million pixels (formerly 920,000). That's not much, but better sharpness and contrast fall immediately - very pleasant. Otherwise one has taken the successful design of the TZ 61. Thus, for once, the adjusting ring on the 4-way switch, and the lens ring on the front cover with practical functions. The scissors prey much the GPS module - The well-known from the predecessor Extra was rationalized away here. Me personally does not bother, because I've never needed. "Circumcised" was also the number of megapixels. The TZ 71 served only 12 of the former 18 megapixels. I think that's ok, because this is a travel or "always with you" camera for spontaneous shots. Most I look at the photos on the computer or HDTV. Of course, the pictures can also print on large format prints the 12MP are probably a bit too little. By reducing each pixel is now almost 1.6 times greater than in the TZ 61, thereby expected to result in better image quality Panasonic when shooting indoors or shooting in low light. The noise like the camera might have on paper better control, in practice, is the difference between TZ 61 but I would say only marginally (unfortunately I had the predecessor no longer for comparison). At the mode dial, the compulsory and automatic PASM modes, and Creative Filters hide. The latter also has done nothing more, except that you now in the "starry sky" mode, select the shutter speed between 15 and 30 (new) can set up to 60 seconds. The (unlike other manufacturers) successful 3D photo mode is also back on board. New - and hidden in the "Rec" menu - is the time-lapse recording. Here you can see the number of photos (max. 200) and the shooting interval (10 sec. To 30 min.) Itself determine to do so, for example, images of a changing clouds sky and then have put together from the camera to a nice time-lapse video. Nice gimmick, which of course is at the expense of the battery and at longer intervals ensures that the camera is constantly on and off, which in the long run probably is not very healthy for the technology. Speaking of battery, the term seems to have "felt" somewhat improved in contrast to the predecessor. A long-term test of course I could not make a second battery has been designed just for filming anyway compulsory. The video mode is as with the excellent 61s (along with excellent stereo recording), as is the image stabilizer. The autofocus has incidentally also improved. Even at the telephoto end is this (assuming a steady hand) now quickly focuses and is much more accurate than the TC 61. But in low light it encounters again quickly to its limits. If you're bored between the photo and video sessions, the camera offers plenty of options for editing. So be circumcised and remove unnecessary material already in advance of the memory card such as videos. Even photos can be circumcised, change in size or subsequently with the creative filters "aufhübschen." For example, the filter provides "selective color" the ability to choose a specific color in the photo with the cursor to highlight this then. For plenty of gimmick is thus ensured. The continuous shooting with 8.5 frames per sec. Not bad, unfortunately the camera creates only 6 images (with focus tracking) per series. A touch function is missing, as with the TZ 61, again. Especially during the manual focus and some other applications it would certainly be helpful, but the doomsday is now also not. WLAN and NFC are still on board. The digital zoom can be here by the way no longer be combined with the "iZoom" as in the predecessor, at the TC 71 can each optical zoom, are only switched from two variants. The menu has remained the same and is broadly very clear. Newbies but already need a few days acclimatization period.
If so now owner of a TZ 61 upgrade to the 71er? I would definitely say: No! For the makeover turns out too low. The few meaningful changes / extensions can be counted on one hand. The reduction of megapixels is to be welcomed, but the results elicit an even no "Aha" effect. The slightly better noise performance drops at best at very low ISO values. But I do not complain, because I have the camera for only a few days and this review will certainly expand in a few weeks even with new impressions, of course. So if no TZ 61 its own calls and generally looking for a universal and just so even your pocket fit 'always there' everyday companion with a flexible 30x zoom is located with the TZ 71 right. Now at the start of the course price is still set very high, especially when you consider that one gets a proper system camera for something more. But one but also some they offer.

Considering the quality (measured on the tiny sensor) and the complete package there on my part 4,5 / 5 stars for the currently best travel zoom camera. -> Have my vote now times minimally revised downwards. The TZ61 and TZ71 both the advantages and disadvantages (more on this in the comments section) and are approximately the same level in the sum. Any interested person should be aware beforehand what his / her is more important: Electronic viewfinder, GPS, resolution, brightness, etc.

The Wi-Fi functionality I have now tested by sometimes. This requires the Panasonic Image app. Wi-Fi button on the TZ71 press. Image Start app on phone and confirm the menu there abenfalls Wi-Fi and there you go. Only on the phone to confirm the right connection (with multiple connections found that select the "TZ71" digits at the beginning). In the main menu you can choose whether to transfer pictures, control the camera remotely via mobile phone or want to create a photo collage. The geotagging feature can be found here. Since the camera has indeed been integrated module no longer, now that mobile has to serve when needed. Controls are the TZ 71 with the mobile phone are the most important functions in the Quick menu: flashlight, aspect ratio, image size, quality, focus mode, and metering mode and the video recording quality. In standard menu can be zoomed, a photo shoot or video recording can be started. Here hides the new "Jump Shot" function. Here the accelerometer of a smartphone is used around the peak of a jump to recognize automatically auzulösen at the right moment. Nice gimmick with fun results, but here goes alternatively the continuous shooting mode where you could then just pick out the best image. To transfer a handful of pictures on the phone's relatively fixed (did the now aged Galaxy S3 for testing had). Too far should not be removed from the camera, the connection is already breaking a few meters from (at least indoors).
