SST / MST:
On the Internet you can often find the question of whether this Monitor resolution 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz in SST, since that is apparently not to be found in the specifications. Now I can confirm that he can.
In the display settings of the monitor is therefore shown as a monitor with resolution of 4096 x 2160 (SST, Single Stream Transport)).
That does not seem to be the case with some 4k monitors. These two monitors (multi MST, Transport Stream) are according to various articles under Windows display with 1970x2160 resolution, which are logically placed side by side, and thus the left and the right half of the monitor provides virtually isolated. This has some disadvantages.
Image Quality:
Such picture quality I have not yet seen. Of course one reason is the resolution, which represents images with an appropriate amount of detail. But in direct comparison with my previous monitor (LG L245WP) significantly more brilliant colors.
The color calibration with Spyder4 revealed as a result of compliance with the Adobe RGB color space. The hardware calibration I have not tried.
Pixel errors I could not discover.
Input
Measured with an Energy Logger: standby 0.4W, 53W in operation
A few insights on Windows 8.1, blurry text and icon sizes for various applications:
If only the 31MU97 is connected, I find the following settings as well:
Control Panel / All Control Panel items / display / hook set with manual scaling stage, size of all elements of 150%. Most of the texts are sharp, in some applications (such as Adobe, depending on the version), the icons remain at 100%, which is tiny, as these are not scaled up. For most of my applications but it works well.
When a lower resolution monitor is connected as a secondary monitor, and the hook has set a scaling level at Manual, text and icons on the low-resolution screen to appear great (at 150% huge), on the high-resolution rather too small, of course, depending on the scaling , That's hard to use.
If the hook when manually scaling level is taken out, Windows adjusts the resolution of the window to the respective monitor resolution, even when you move a window from one monitor to the other.
In addition, icons are scaled up. This makes Windows actually pretty good. Actually, because the scale has the disadvantage that many texts appear blurred. For this we read a lot on the Internet. This too is difficult to accept.
I wish that Windows for each screen offers its own manual scaling and scaled up even stubborn icons. It may of course be that I have the optimum variant only not found.
And of course, that the application developers to do their homework when it comes to high-dpi.
But back to the monitor: class screen, super colors, 100% recommendation!
