I myself use a modern system running Windows 7 64 bit and varied burning programs and therein lies the problem. Windows 7 recognizes the drive without any problems and the data on Blu-rays can be read also, except for the play of Blu-ray movies. This was only possible after I uninstalled all old burning tools with me. Error message: "The inserted disc has been recorded in an unknown format". Unfortunately I can not tell which burning programs work with the drive, but there was at me with Daemon Tools Light Problems, I have not yet installed the software again and can not say yet whether the drive continues to work thus.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied and can recommend it, but you should already bring some experience with the installation of hardware.
