The module is equipped with the Unity Media Smart Card easy to slide into the provided CI slot, channel scan and go.
I myself have a Samsung UE40C6700 with CI Plus slot and am Unitymedia customer (Digital Basic package, UM02 card). Since I was nothing initially sure if that really works, ie reception of public service (ARD, ZDF and Arte HD) with the remaining encrypted digital channels (eg. RTL, Sat 1, etc), I called Unitymedia and asked to see if I had to rely absolutely on the CI Plus module for 4 month. The answer was "yes" I had to, I would also get a new Smart Card. Anything else would not work ...
I can only say, thank God I have this UM customer service people did not believe and decided to go for this module. It receives all the public service in HD quality and as usual the encrypted digital channels. I Menen part am very satisfied. However, anyone who is planning to decide in the near future for RTL HD or satellite HD 1 and so on for about 60 / year, needs the AlphaCrypt light and also an I02 or I03 Smart Card from UM. Prerequisite here is necessarily a CI plus slot on the TV.
While the switch takes between 1-2 seconds, making it but just as fast as before with the UM-Digial-receiver, therefore no disadvantage. Is awesome that I have are that stupid receiver in the basement now and no longer need.
Conclusion: The price is indeed crisp with about 100, but if I would have rented the module at UM, I would be after 2 years already come up with the same cost and the module would not still my property :).
