I can say he is great in the hand, it's hard, it does not verutscht on the desk and the sense of movement is soft and evenly to the joystick itself. There is but apparently a few problems with the quality control of Thrustmaster, but rather to be a general problem seems American. I have certainly also for other American products, which are also located in a much higher price segment.
I'm not talking about the general material deficiencies, but from sloppy quality control in production. For example, there. not sharpened plastic seams in the ball joint or not deburred holes in the guide or to stuck cotter pins in the joint.
As long as the existing lubricating paste (probably silicone-based) is still sufficient, the joint slides still good. It seems here but certainly to give fluctuations or dealt with it very sparingly.
Who now may ask whether you have to be crazy to break down at a 150 Euro Joystick the instrument and to work for, I would say maybe;)
I have the device completely disassembled, reworked the shortcomings and built with appropriate grease in correct amount back together. I think without this corrective action will be within a short time to harden the silicone grease, the lubrication in the joint subside and by the ridges it comes to a Hakeln to the often described, on the other hand is likely to rub the joint broken then.
The joystick now works Butterweich, it feels good to wirkich and I used to play a lot of fun with it.
The throttle is also really great, even if the materials are not quite on the same high level of joysticks. Here, for example, only the hand-resting surface of metal, the rest of the push lever is made of plastic. The lower part is accordingly also made of metal, the bottom plate was loaded with additional weights.
The switch both the joystick, and the thrust of the controller are very accurate and provide a strong feedback and a realistic shifting feel. The bearings of the thrust axis I also again accordingly greased.
The boost regulator has a stop, idle, and afterburner thrust position. In the latter, you can decide whether you prefer to be infinitely adjusted to 100% or to 90%, then you have to pull the thrust levers upwards to get into the Nachbrennermodus Optional through the turn around a guide piece.
The included software TARGET provides many settings and multiple layers of occupation, even Macros us scripts are possible. The software bypasses the limitations of DirectX by emulating virtual input devices (mouse and keyboard), so that all the switches can be used.
One or the other will surely ask, why do you need it? Now it is so, the DirectX on Windows has a limit of 8 analog axes and 32 function buttons. The joystick and throttle together exceed this limit, at least for the buttons.
In addition, it is often the case that our games the keystroke on the keyboard, so expect a short pulse. For the throttle, we have a lot of keys that have latching functions. Then you'd have to switch only in postion, then switch again to have the same effect as a keystroke on the keyboard. When twice the key on the keyboard corresponding to four times actu one would switch the throttle switch back and forth.
While this goes, but is then no longer so beautiful. Here we come to the Software TARGET good, because they can emulate us pressing our switching cycle.
All in all I would recommend this very Hotas Set. If I could stand again before deciding I would buy me one more time and accordingly rework.
