Ultimately, I decided for this lens from Sigma and am glad and happy about my decision. The Sigma provides excellent services in the field of image stabilization, delivering both in macro range, as well as excellent portrait pictures. I use it on my Canon 7D and 600D and am very happy with the speed of the autofocus in both cases. In macro range, it is natural conditionally required to limit the autofocus, which will also work easily and reliably through a switch on the lens.
A use in the great outdoors (flowers and insects) has shown in direct comparison that the Sigma a nose is opposite the front Tamron. The 15 mm focal length more to make itself felt and the image stabilizer speaks at Sigma over the Tamron (felt) to something more reliable. Although I, however, also have to be honest: would the price of Sigma's not like on such a marginal difference to Tamron, I would have chosen that.
