I was recently before choosing a thick, heavy and expensive macro lens for my DSLR to buy, or to the Marumi achromatic upgrade the macro properties of my compact camera. The first alternative would have made my camera bag felt heavy, huge hole included in the account. But the thing is, my camera bag is as it is heavy enough, and with me only when I want concrete photographs, which I have been thinking in advance realize. In situations where I have nothing specific in mind, I prefer to take with the Compact. This means that I, I would have bought my macro lens, dispense in most cases on macros would have to be taken while the lens waiting would have gathered dust in the cabinet. Having now had time to count pixels, I'm very happy with my decision. The Marumi is well made, cheap and degrades the image quality in my opinion not to. And he disappears into even the smallest pocket and turns the Compact on the fly in a serious macro tool.
