Have bought the router, I can install on it the alternative DD-WRT firmware. But I wanted to give a chance to the original Asus firmware. The Asus engineers have however proper manure delivered if you want to use the RT-N12 as a pure wireless repeater to extend its WLAN. However, the DHCP server can not be switched off in the Repeater Mode, which is complete nonsense, because you usually have a DHCP server running on the "Main" router, which then come in the way. Therefore, the original Asus firmware of DD-WRT FW had evaded ;-) Now the RT-N12 is running as "Repeater Bridge" and does its service without complaint. However, one should have some idea if you have flashed the DD-WRT firmware, as it offers a lot of configuration options.
Conclusion: If you want to use the RT-N12 as a pure repeater = AWAY otherwise OK! Value for money with alternative DD-WRT FW just great!
