Have the camera now for almost three weeks, and am very happy with it. Purchase decisive were the image quality and the large zoom range for me. The picture quality is simply outstanding. The color is very natural and beautiful and improved over the Finepix F10. Many daylight scenes in the lower focal length range, the contrast is already perfectly: The Auto Contrast function of Photoshop does not change.
Images can be saved in RAW format and have it actually up to 12 megapixels resolution. A RAW file is then also 13 MB on the memory card.
The camera offers plenty of adjustment options, and automatic program and a program shift (standing still in any review or no test). Pity that spot metering is available only via the menu.
Nice accessories are lens cap holder to the strap and lockable sun visor.
Focal lengths:
In direct comparison to my analog Minolta Dynax 7000i with Tokina 28-70mm and Sigma 70-300mm I can not understand the focal length information from Fujifilm (28-300mm). I made the following comparison test. The S6500fd has been on 3: 2 aspect ratio adjusted (corresponding to the small screen aspect ratio of analog cameras). With the 28mm zoom setting S6500fd shows the same subject distance greater image detail / image angle than the Minolta with 28mm. At 300mm zoom setting, a larger field of view is also detectable. In my subjective estimate of the small screen equivalent focal length range of 26-280mm S6500fd is closer to.
Face Detection:
Nice feature for people who frequently take pictures of people. Faces are sometimes detected on television screens and black and white photos. AF switch must be set to "S", otherwise it is not working. Other restrictions called the manual.
Costs:
The street price for the camera is phenomenal low. However, anyone who needs accessories pays still a lot to do so. Batteries and power adapter has saved in its basic configuration Fujifilm. An AC adapter can be Fujifilm with 50 Euro pay, and two sets of NiMh batteries with high capacity multi-voltage charger also costs about 40 euros again. For trips you can use even the good and cheap AA batteries of Aldi course.
Pending wishes for the next generation:
Button for Spot
Shorter working distance in macro with telephoto setting
Shorter RAW storage time
Image Stabilizer
LCD viewfinder with higher resolution
