I had previously the BD-C8200. This, however, had no Twin Tuner that bothered me. In addition, new apps (eg Amazon Instant Video) were not supported.
I wrote the same recession for the BD-H8500. This I had changed, as I have now received the BD-H8900 for the same price. However, since they are identical, I can give the same feedback.
The facts:
Negatives:
- I had the receiver are first in the same place as my old man. However, since this area is closely were heard too many vibrations. He is so loud.
But this can be circumvented by rubber mats or Kuststoff-adhesive feet.
- The operation while the TV operation is slightly slower. Pressing the EPG, Channel List or the Info button (i) takes the display of information for a while. Chill for about 1 second. Its predecessor, this was faster. But you have to say that now more information to be indicating which saves extra clicks or navigation.
- What I'm missing is a RCA output for audio, but since I'm probably an isolated case
That's it with "negative" points.
Positives:
- The Twin is actually a triple: It can be picked up 2 channels at the same time and still another 1 program be watched.
- German keyboards are supported, if one changes the setup of the English keyboard (standard) in German.
- Keyboard like the Logitech K400 with touchpad support. However you have to watch. The receiver supports all here. However, the apps have problems. Amazon Instant Video is not supported as the touchpad on the keyboard, but the keys themselves. But this brings in contrast to the remote control has an added value, now that you can leave the virtual keyboard with mouse and does not have to navigate using the keyboard arrow keys
- In contrast to previous models stations can now be sorted on the time slot number and no longer than tens of screens to scroll
- Recording: Samsung had the problems that shipments were recorded later or have stopped earlier if they were programmed via the EPG on the previous model.
By contrast, the criticism in many judgments has refilled properly here Samsung. Who's afraid that recording starts too late or ends too soon can set-up times.
Important: This can be set once and need not be made per recording. I for example start time and end time gestzt -3 minutes +7 minutes. This applies to all subsequent pictures and you do not have to manually adjust the scheduled recording time! The setting can be found in the menu, which also houses the scheduled recordings are listed
General Conclusion: Of course it's not a high-end device. But I think the mix some here. I can not compare with a Panasonic for 350 200 a unit.
I think value for this device easily fits, if one is looking for a cable receiver and wants to use a recording in parallel with the TV program.
