The box was the WNDR3700 with adjustable foot, power cord, network cable, software and information.
The router makes, by design, really a good impression and also the workmanship is top. What is also good that the antennas are now housed internally (at least 8). Thus, the router can also be easily shown open in the flat.
The device I wanted to do on the CD, but unfortunately the setup wizard refused his service under Windows 7 64bit (date of purchase routers: November 10, 2009). Too bad, here I would have gladly desired an updated software, also online, I could not find anything.
However, the facility itself was also not a problem as I just now access directly to the router. The router menu is very well structured, despite the diversity and the help texts on the right side, replace the quasi through the manual (on the CD case). The help texts explain all descriptions and is therefore for laymen to understand.
Setting worked without problems and the connection to WNDA3100 and my notebook with integrated wireless adapter was set up quickly.
The speed of the router is wonderful. Where have I been received with wireless on my desktop PC only 1-3Mbit, I now reach my full speed of 20Mbit (2.4 Ghz Mode). At 5 GHz, however, I reached a slightly lower speed.
The LAN ports have made a good impression and prepared a perfect marriage. The USB port I have connected an external HDD, in which case the router can break the Internet connection when "Media Server" is enabled in the router menu. If this feature is turned off and harmonize router External HDD wonderful (problem is when Netgearsupport known). Also set up for accessing the HDD was very easy and there are several ways (FTP / HTTP / etc.).
Summary:
Positives:
- Good design and good workmanship
- Very good speed in conjunction with the WNDA3100 and even to other WLAN adapters
- Simple menu using texts
- USB port for connecting hard drives
Negatives:
- No software support for Windows 7 64bit
- Internet connection is lost when Media Server is enabled and connected HDD
Despite the two negative points, I can recommend the WNDR3700 readily, even in conjunction with the WNDA3100.
