What I wanted was to cruise a nice little board around a bit through the area, especially around the city, for shopping and perhaps even to work, which is a bit far with 5 km, but with a little practice it should feasible be. I also wanted to find out whether you may proceed Longboard could be something for me. Of course it is not the same, but at least in the approach similar. The demands on the boards were that it is small and light, so you put it in your pocket or sometimes on the plane can carry in your hand luggage. For this purpose it had to of course provide the correct driving experience and great source of joy.
But now to the actual test:
Both boards are roughly in the same price category. The Osprey proposes to beech with 39.99 euros, for the Ridge I paid 48.36 euros (do not ask me how the price came into existence, usually it will cost 54.95 and it did an hour after my order again ). But you get something very different. The Osprey uses wood as a material for the cover, which feels very valuable, the Ridge plastic, which seems to be very well made however. Extracting the Osprey was very annoying because the deck is completely wrapped in foil and the axes are simply screwed onto the film. I have not completely gotten and did not want to spend eternity of time, but rather to test. Due to the different materials that are used, the two differ Skateboards course very. The Osprey is a lot longer and a bit wider. The deck is also a little thicker. It offers little flex, whereas the Ridge very strong Flex provides. The axes of the Osprey are much wider than those of the Ridge (the board is indeed insbesamt wider), but very rigid (you could of course change by softer rubber). The Ridge is also here very mobile. The roles of the Osprey, like the Axis wider and provided with a harder rubber compound than that of Ridge. By turning the board around, and rolled the wheels, so they rotate at Osprey longer than the Rigde - but that does indeed mean anything while driving. However, I could find so that when delivered to me Osprey a ball bearing was defective. Overall, the Ridge is a bit processed better and when unpacking no blemish showed. There I also like visually better although it is made of plastic that is of course a matter of taste). The Osprey looks like a shrunken windsurf board (where the longboarding indeed come - I am sure also this design is preferred by many in comparison).
To ride: There are worlds between the two Boards! according to setup the Osprey is much more cumbersome and difficult to control, as the Ridge. the Ridge flits around the curves and is fun, which unfortunately is not really the case with the Osprey. It is also very loud (of course is also due to the materials, the wood gives the sound a lot more likely to continue, as the plastic). The Flex, which turns out if you teeters while standing on the board to be a true joy and is very comfortable when driving. The Osprey loses quite clearly against the Ridge. I think if you want a comparable with the driving behavior of the Ridge board made of wood, you have to engage much deeper into their pockets. Also, I have read in various forums that the Ridge also by no means against the original Penny Board must hide this and inferior in handling about nothing (the original Penny board costs about 110 euros).
My conclusion of this test has a very clear winner: the Ridge! Processing, design, and above all, the driving experience is not quite the same as that of the Osprey. Overall I give the 8.37 euros more for the Ridge very happy, because I in the better and a lot more suitable for me Skateboard get. The Osprey could not really convince me why it is tomorrow also sent back.
The delivery by the way worked reibunglos at two: The Osprey was a day earlier because, as stated, the Ridge at the came on the first day of the specified delivery period. Both evening and ordered on the second day there. TOP!
I hope my review was not like it and you too long :)
