I expected, reading the summary, that the story takes place in our world and that a high school student discovers overnight the existence of dragons and its role, which partly explains my surprise. In fact, if history is going well in the XXI century, the world described is quite different from ours. The magic is everywhere, you see a little partout.Jennifer wizards and mages is a young orphan soon sixteen that was collected by younger sisters and has to pay his debt, working several years at the Agency Arts Kazam Mystics. This agency rents to businesses and individuals, sorcerers services to perform all kinds of tasks: plumbing or installation of a system therefore électrique.Jennifer alongside a whole bunch of mages and faces incredible situations. Everything is going well until one day a premonition comes everything upside: Maltcassion, the last dragon will die. An ancestral pact - that I will reveal to you not - done between dragons and men and this terrible premonition will result in significant upheavals and bring out the biggest flaws of humanity ... I remain deliberately vague because it is important discover all this during playback, the back cover reveals a lot already.
I had never read anything by Jasper Fforde before, but I had heard of his style and his humor and it is clear that this book will not please everyone, I really liked. The humor has an important place in this novel, and through this, the author makes us think and denounces the faults of man, so that even if the fantasy is ubiquitous, this book has something real, close to the world as we know it. If this story were to happen to us, it is obvious that things would turn out this way ...
Finally, after a rather disturbing and scary beginning, I loved this book. I liked the characters, humor and offbeat side. The story is no shortage of twists and turns, there are no time-outs, few lengths, and the author arrives in a remarkable way to expose trends and current ways of thinking through a goofy story and very different appearance of our world. It is not necessarily easy to get into the world of Jasper Fforde, but once inside you never want to get out.
