for navigation on channels, Swedish or otherwise, must not be rushed and must even be very patient for the passage of the locks! there are many locks to cross in this investigation of Martin Beck and must therefore be very patient! the book is not very thick but it seems interminably long with little typed characters and especially the main characters, the victim, the investigator, and the murderer! that he left out: a tourist Sweden by domestic and somewhat smoky channels (this was well before the anti-smoking laws!)
