It's a personality that deserves to be better known outside of his book The Rubble ("best-seller" during the Occupation) and his journalistic articles in Je Suis Partout (later, after prison, Rivarol ). He was a brilliant art critic (especially music) and a very talented writer author of one of the most beautiful novels that was written in the twentieth century to know The Two Standards.
This little book of the collection Who am I allows us to identify the man, the journalist and writer without omitting his faults, his shortcomings. A character both fascinating for some and for others monstrous. Me, what especially attracts me to Rebatet is his talent as a writer. When a man writes a book like The Two Standards, how even he was part of the camp of the "cursed", one can not completely hate. Dialogue From Vanquished is also another book to better understand Rebatet (fascinating book which are reported during 1950 dialogues Rebatet and Pierre-Antoine Cousteau imprisoned in Clairvaux prison. Many topics are discussed and often caustically by both tôlards).
One of the figures in French literature the most sulfurous (and talented) the twentieth century. Proof is always massive silence that reigns on his name and his work, inspiring gall and hatred in female minds of our journalistic and literary Želite ... Céline, Drieu La Rochelle have been "washed from their sins" so to speak (and again ...), still a few like Saint-Loup ... and Rebatet.
