I 85 1.8 AF-D had for years in use. Unfortunately we went to break. I can not see any big difference to D up to the newer design the AF-S. The ultrasonic motor brings no speed advantage to my D700 (felt). Manually I intervene rarely, so has the USM here for me no benefits. The Bokeh I found, however, the D somewhat finer and more balanced (a matter of taste). Due to my work as a kindergarten and school photographer I have it for weight reasons always in your pocket. 3-4 hours with the 70-200 would be impossible simply for me. Beginners are at large apertures, or at demenentsprechend large magnifications (so close to it) and thus shallow depths put some "shots" in the sand. Just is not a beginners section. I would, however, again the choice, I would probably go back but pick up the D. Despite strong buy recommendation.
