Is this a deliberate move away from the original score for the sake of originality (ironic, no?). Yet it is beautifully played and talent Ivo Pogorelitch is not a cause (but when we play Mussorgsky one has to remain modest), plus an aesthetic bias (all tastes are in nature and expression here comes into its own).
To the sound of the piano, I do not like. Caricaturing a little, the Yamaha sounds a bit, especially in the bass and lower midrange as a sampled piano, too compressed, too clean and lacking that the required work that dark halo. Some claim that pianists can influence the sound of the piano, which is nonsense (a pianist 50-60 years which I forgot the name claimed even cause a vibrato key ivory, it escapes me a bit! ). The sound comes only from the choice of instrument and the sound or dynamics, but then it no longer respects the partition.
Here was a perfect Bösendorfer or Steinway harmonized dark side of the force. I'll have to find myself another version, if someone has good tips?
