To philosophize about the musical finesse of Maceo Parker, actually makes little sense - he was, is and remains a Soul / Funk giant. The playfulness of him and his colleagues on stage is here sensational - grandiose arrangements with terrific instrumentalists. Almost even more, however, has inspired me during mixdown or mastering of this CD. In times of 08/15-Sound for MP3 Headphone generation like this sound a divine inspiration: one of the best recorded and best sounding CDs in recent years. Everything is on the spot, not too much, not too little; ranging from bass to wind parts. This CD sounds better than most SACDs in my possession. Thanks to Maceo, the WDR Big Band and the / sound engineers. Next time please only with one or two songs more.
