Buying I have no regrets, in fact there is only one point of bothers me a bit, but it was clear to me before you buy. In order to always have the lens case, it is simply a little too big. My cherished Nikkor 70-300 VC has a length of about 15cm and fits super mounted in my camera bag. The Tamron coming to a length of 20cm and is too large mounted to take it with. So I'm going to do well in the future many more photos with my Nikkor 70-300mm. Especially since it is also a very good lens and you do not need the high strength of Tamron's List in daylight.
The image quality of the Tamron lens is super. The resolution is extremely high and indeed into the corners, the colors are great and aberrations I have not yet seen. I think that the original Nikon can not be better (without having tested it extensively). In any case, the Tamron comparison with the following lenses need not shy away from (better than my zoom lenses is all time) in terms of resolution, at maximum aperture:
- Nikkor 35mm 1: 1.8 g
- Nikkor 50mm 1: 1,8D
- Micro Nikkor 60mm / 2.8G ED
Even with the autofocus, I am very satisfied. He is fast, faster than most lenses and also quite accurate. In practice I hardly images in which the focus is not sitting. However, I have not photographed in low light properly.
The processing of the lens is impeccable, even if it is made of plastic. How well the plastic usage holds for several years yet, must show the time. Schön is the Tamron has protected the lens against splashing water. Even though I rarely take pictures in the rain, I can well imagine that the protection against splashes and annoying dust left out leaves.
Oh, the image stabilizer, I almost forgot. The working properly and the picture freezes a downright. Here Tamron has reengineer over again, compared to the 70-300mm VC lens.
Here's the pros and cons the lens:
+ Super sharp
+ Great colors
+ Fast autofocus
+ Tip Image Stabilizer
+ Top processing
- I think it's a little too big, to have it always with you (but the original Nikon is not less)
Before I bought the Tamron, I have looked at me the following lenses, or read reviews on these lenses:
- Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 OS
- Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 (predecessor without VC)
- Tokina 50mm-135mm
- Nikon 20-200mm F2.8 VR II
The Sigma I have not bought because I thought it was a bit soft at full aperture.
The predecessor of Tamron I have not bought, because I had the feeling that the autofocus could be a bit faster and more accurately. However, the optical quality is very good. The feel is great, on an FX camera (great finder) can provide super focus manually.
The Tokina I had bought on eBay. Actually, it's a great lens. The autofocus still based on a rack drive, but I would have passed on the speed, especially since he is quite accurate (unfortunately he was my camera, despite correction always constant next to it). Schön was Tokina that it already starts at 50mm and the design is very small (it would fit in my super mounted Fotorucksack).
The Nikon was me as a hobby photographer simply too expensive, the predecessor models are still quite high traded.
If you're not a full-time professional and the last bit of focus speed / precision required, the Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 VC is a strong buy recommendation !!!
