Many find Tchaikovsky was a melancholy composer who was driven and tormented in his life, of suicide attempts and depression. But this CD collection clearly shows that he loved life, he was looking for his place, difficulties has asked, has thoroughly questioned things. He took part in the drama of life. He hid not shy, he did not hid. The intense melodic sections of his works show his intimate view of life. There are pieces of the very courageous start, dramatic twists nevertheless take but end shallow. He wrote melancholy ballet pieces that are very eagerly playing. In all, one can not say that it was purely depressed. This is neither in his plays before, even in his Vita when it deals with it afterwards or before.
The operas are good shots, although some live recordings are - often a bit disturbing.
The booklet, however, there only in CD-Rom format and is in English.
But considering the price / performance ratio can not complain.
Worth a buy recommendation. 5 Stars
