One more important note regarding the differences from the previous Withings Pulse.:
- The Withings Pulse O2 measures the oxygen content in the blood. According to a report on Heise.de so does the previous model with the firmware update on 15 April. (UPDATE: Firmware update functions, both models are identical!)
- Pulse O2 is a beautiful, well-worn plastic strap and no longer the fabric strap of the previous model. The new bracelet costs Instant Buy at Withings 14.95 EUR and currently circulating on the Internet even promo codes, with which you can get it for 10 EUR incl. Shipping.
We can thus conclude that it makes sense - as long as its predecessor for 99 EUR at Amazon is still available - to buy this and buy the plastic strap separately. So you save at least a few more EUR, has additionally the fabric strap and no other differences from the new O2 Pulse.
The SmartSync feature of the Pulse is not very mature for my taste. Just when you often times used the app, the data is not always up to date. Since I use the Nike Fuelband also since 1 'years, I have other expectations for Bluetooth 4.0. Feels like you have to start the sync pulses of regularly manually. On the Support page of Withings I have found the following grounds:
"With the automatic synchronization is determined when the Pulse attempts to synchronize automatically (ie no manual sync). There are various triggers.
The following Smart sync triggers (pulses firmware 871 or higher):
- You have made since the last synchronization attempt more than 1000 steps, followed by a minute with less than 50 steps;
- You have reached the 10,000 steps a day target;
- The last synchronization attempt is returned more than 6 hours.
Please note that there are also several instances where a scheduled automatic synchronization is not running:
- The display of the Pulse is switched on;
- The Pulse has tried too many times to sync (more than 10 times);
- The battery is too low, and your pulse is not connected to the mains;
- The sleep mode is turned on;
- Since the last synchronization attempt no steps were counted ".
All this saves battery life certainly, a Sync triggered by opening the app (like the Nike Fuelband) would in my view be desirable.
