Why I bought the tablet?
I use it in the lectures to PDF 'scripts add some notes and to create handwritten scripts. I want to come out of the endless mountains of paper and folders that are incurred while studying, away.
The test software most used is One Node from the Office 2007 package from Microsoft, as formats such as lines, rectangles, etc. can be drawn with this software. Windows Journal does not offer these features, thus it becomes difficult to clean such as text to underline. The only disadvantage of One Note is that something diminishing quality of the print and the missing formula editor.
In Word, the tablet will also work here but I have tested it only briefly. Handwritten texts can be added as a picture here. Drawings can be created and here there is also a formula editor.
In addition, all operating system can - Features (Windows 7) are controlled. An input tool allows to recognize the handwriting and directly into a text field or document (Word) as a 'printed' text to enter.
Drawback is that when a large monitor, with me 24 inches, the direct create a handwritten note is difficult because the size ratio is very different. The font is very large, precise work more difficult. In the lectures, I use a 10 "netbook, which corresponds to the width of an A4 page. The ratio of the movement of the pin to the movement on the screen right here very well.
One disadvantage I feel that programmable fields on the sides, on the tablet. If you touch the fields an info bubble will open at the corresponding position on the screen. If programmed with a function, such as a shortcut to the Windows calculator, is the information a field 'K7: Calculator' in this bubble. As the scroll bar (for a 10 'Netbook, the scroll bar is something frequently used) is in a maximized window right next to these fields (the customizable fields set the screen represents), pops up when you move the bar, almost always, an info bubble on what can be very annoying in the long run. Incidentally, it is whether a field has been assigned a function or not, a bubble appears always.
Another disadvantage is the thickish guessed pin. There are some notes necessary until you get used to it.
One advantage is the good response of the pin in compression. In the beginning this is going a bit stiff, but the pin can be good 'enroll'. With a little practice can be achieved quite good results. The conversion of handwriting works surprisingly well, here I was very surprised.
The power consumption of netbooks running on battery power, does not change significantly through the connected tablet. The test PC, an Acer Aspire One, holds good by 4.5 to 5 hours.
Now that I have tested the tray for one semester, I came to the conclusion that it is indeed suitable for fast write there, but to wish the cleanliness in handwritten script leaves something. The rework would be possible, but of course costs extra time.
Next semester I'll type in text and use the tablet for drawings.
Scripts in PDF - format, which are used more often by the professors, with spice notes, arrows, underlining 'works perfectly and it is the classic highlighter in every way. It even fun because clean results.
I have this semester does not require a single folder. In previous semesters, however, a folder handed out rarely. And with folders I mean WIDE A4 folder.
I would like to say, from PowerPoint slides created PDFs, and created in landscape mode PDFs are also printed in One Node cross and can not be rotated (has nothing to do with the tablet).
I would buy the tablet again. For the fields on the edge with the disturbing Poppup bubbles and become too stiff pin but there is point deduction.
