Positives:
- For a 15 "incredible Dimensions & Weight
- Design is very well done, even if it's the C series was chic with the "Ash black" sound. Nevertheless, the X4D does very well on the desk
- The battery lasts forever. Exactly how long, I have not measured; Anyway, it arrived for almost my work (and for those with normal working hours should there for the whole day range).
- Housing completely made of metal (Al & Mg, as far as I understand it)
- Keyboard seh pleasant for writing
-Ample processor power for a mobile companion
- The touchpad is really good (even if the click is likely to be more subdued)
- 2 x USB 3.0
- Display Part 1:. ANTI-GLARE and superbright This can also be a window in the back working
- RAM and hard disk can be exchanged. Today no longer be taken for granted as far as I could tell.
- It has a stylish backlit keyboard. If the evening in the ICE very pleasant and ensures envious glances;)
- It is silently
Neutral:
- VGA adapter is not enclosed
- Touchpad something running in "click"
- In the 15 "range without competition
Negatives:
- The display (Part 2) - This TN panels are so incredible viewing angle dependent, that it already is no longer fun. Useless for photo editing. For pure Office but sufficient.
- RAM has to be upgraded; I do not know what it is (Samsung software or Windows 8), at least 3,6GB RAM permanently occupied. This is very bad for a total of 4 GB.
-RAM Is installed as a single module. That alone for more speed (dual channel operation) an upgrade of a second module is necessary.
- The SSD is a joke and should be replaced; Despite the rapid access it probably represents the bottleneck. Once the disk is write / read on, even breaks the access time. This must not happen a SSD. Once a m4 installed and Windows is reinstalled, I give an update
Final Word:
Each notebook z.Zt. is a compromise, a "perfect" does not exist. That 900X4D with NEM IPS already come close to the damn! With the limitation of the display, it is a great work tool.
To "keep": The price was amazingly low and there is no "more [less / lighter / smaller-in-15" range] Notebook reserve "can be up to the display" In any case, the tendency is towards the. ". . is also the negative points (! after all) eliminate a 4GB Kingston module and an m4 256GB SSD (Please note: mSATA standard) are already on the way.
One possible alternative is the 730U3E Coming Soon. But there is only one 13 ".
Alternatively, the 900X3C. Even a 13 ", but with an IPS panel, lighter, lower mass, but only a Ram module, which is to make matters worse still soldered (ergo no upgrade path) and the same (MEN unusable) SSD.
Addendum: The 900X4D went back, I did not want to live with DME display. Now have the 900X3C with PLS display that almost 1: 1 the X4D (except for the color, size 13 ", color and level display) entpsricht: The M4 when I X3C now retrofitted am perfectly happy (ok, the keyboard illumination from X4D and the extended battery life was still better than the 13-inch model) As I said, the X4D is very good with the above restrictions for all other receives a 13-inch series;..)
