The Device:
Ports, there is one USB 3.0, HDMI and Micro USB 2.0, jack (3.5mm) and charging port. Not huge, but enough.
The device has among the really good and bright 12.5 full HD display a hinge on which the actual battery permanently affixed thereby you never have the typical tablet feeling. On the other hand, is the tablet thanks to this walk also independent of the keyboard (necessary for desktop mode, but also quite practical to it as a tablet should ask).
Commissioning:
Typical Windows 8.1: It is (set up WLAN, accounts such as Microsoft, etc.) through all the points step by step. Like me personally at Android tablets better, but still works well.
Everyday:
What will it be now? Tablet? Desktop PC? Laptop? Toys & Games? Presentation screen? In theory everything. Can this go on? Yes, mostly!
So far I have an Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 3) more or less used, since my phone (Lumia 930) had a 5-inch screen, the Tablet but mostly lay in the corner. Well, it looks again very different. Thanks to the switch 12 I now use much less my phone at home to surf the Internet, because the Acer is ready to work (turn on in about 10 seconds!) And I have to make no compromise between tablet and laptop. I change how it fits straight: I usually start in tablet mode, then I realize that would be a laptop attached: So quickly clipped keyboard (works on 2 magnetic plugs, which hold very safe, it rarely happens that one wrong there. einklingt what is annoying but not bad) and continue to work as a laptop. My Microsoft Mini Mouse can be operated easily via the USB 2.0 port on the stand.
The keyboard itself has a good pressure point and makes for me as a moderately fast 10-finger-writers not make much difference to conventional desktop keyboard.
Toll I think that you can constantly switch between screen and mouse input (a trackpad does not exist, only a small point of contact, but which at a pinch is serving).
In laptop mode, the device is safe even on your lap.
The desktop mode acts as the laptop mode, except that the keyboard and screen are separated and the removal of Bildschrims thus can be determined individually.
Power:
800 MHz base clock as sound ridiculous in this day and age, but thanks to the 2 GHz Power Boost mode you are well equipped for everyday life. The processor sits well in the upper left corner, because there the device can be felt but what hot little or no bother. All I tested applications such as Internet Explorer (Firefox, Chrome), music / video player, news apps run absolutely smoothly. Only when switching to fullscreen mode a YouTube video, the switch begrudge 12 ca 10 Gedenksekunden- bit disturbing.
Quick Overview:
Positives:
+ Haptics is good acts processed wertig, however, all black. This bit dull and loveless.
+ Performance in everyday life and for adequate office
+ Ordinary features including Bluetooth, HDMI, USB 3.0
+ Very good Full HD display, including good touch function
+ Very high everyday practicality thanks to the flexible use
+ Good battery endurance (between 5 and 8 hours)
Negatives:
-relative high weight
-störender foot (at least in tablet mode)
-Can not like a laptop be folded, thereby display unprotected
Conclusion:
Despite these weaknesses, I love this device. How So? Because I use it and very regularly and gladly. THEREFORE 5 STARS (actually 4.5, which is not available here). And that's not self-evident. A classic laptop was my last not spontaneous enough ready, had a tablet disadvantages in the applications and the keyboard. The switch 12 combines the strengths of the devices, though also has its weaknesses, but with whom I can finally live well. The price is currently relatively high, I think 600 euros for reasonable.
Windows 10 will hopefully bring in details again improvements, but it has even Acer yes no influence.
Buy recommendation for those who only need a laptop for office and internet and could never make friends with a tablet.
