This much vocoder vocal distortion and acoustic effects at the boundaries of studio technology - and all at the highest commercial level. At the end there's still for us Europeans "American Pie" as a bonus track, it fits quite well for a final (total rather melancholy) mood of the album. Total's take a little more than 49 minutes. While this may not seem like an excessive amount of, but not a single piece is unnecessary. Madonna said in interviews, her new album is much simpler structure and not so packed like Ray of Light. This opinion I do not share. It pays to the album several times to listen with headphones to capture the rather complex sound effects and song structures. Certainly one of the most important and best albums of the year. If not the best.
