The package includes four AAA batteries and a user manual in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Russian and Polish, from which I quote excerpts below and also contains extensive notes and tables to interpret the various readings. It is expressly pointed out that the scale is not calibrated and (despite the clinical sober designs) is not a medical diagnostic device.
The display window is 23.5 x 4 cm tall and not lit (!). Centered weight is displayed in 3 cm large, high-contrast digits, around it in large 1.3cm digits the values for body fat percentage, body water percentage, muscle percentage, bone mass, body mass index, caloric needs. The units kg and cm can be converted to English units (what down arrow button also happen by pressing the when weighing ever accidentally, but can be reset just as quickly). The weight (0.2 lb or) displayed in 100-g increments. The maximum load is 200 kg.
The balance can be used for pure weight measurement (without diagnostic values), by possibly also with footwear simply adjusts to the foot rest. After about 5 seconds and blink twice the weight is determined and is shown 15 seconds stable. Afterwards the scale switches off automatically, even if the stress persists. (Just as the lack of display lighting of course that protects the batteries.)
It was not until a load of about 5 kg, the scale works stable as described above. Through a correspondingly out gerechnetes Tara can also lower weights, from about 500 g, are weighed even halfway accurate. Weight differences below about 300 g are electrically noisy and only measured insufficiently accurate.
With regard to the diagnostic values the scale uses the principle of bioelectrical impedance analysis. Here one of safe electric current is passed through the body and it will be a matter of seconds by measuring the electrical resistance (impedance) and calculating in individual basic data (age, height, sex, activity level) estimated the above values. The body mass index is calculated from inputted height and weight measured.
With bare feet the balance may therefore not be of people with an electronic medical implants (eg pacemakers) used. In people with certain anatomical features (children under 10 years competitive athletes, bodybuilders, pregnant women, people with fever, osteoporosis, in dialysis treatment, etc.) which are based on norms diagnostic values are falsified.
After inserting the batteries, can be entered as the first above-mentioned individual basic data of users. There are presets for ten users (P0 to P9) available. The entry was a little fiddly for me, but somehow I did it after several resets (battery replacement) eventually hingekriegt. When replacing batteries, the stored basic data are retained.
If the diagnostic values should be queried, must first the respective user (P0 to P9) can be set by pressing the SET and arrow keys. Whose personal basic data are displayed briefly, until the display appears 0.0. Only then the balance is to be entered with bare, damp feet (with a washcloth works moistening wonderful). The feet must be on the electrodes, the weight should be evenly distributed on both legs, the legs should not touch (to the current path is not abbreviate). After about five seconds, the measurement is completed and all the values appear for about 15 seconds in the display. (For obtuse oldies like me who want to write down the values, if possible, that could be quiet a little longer, like also at the expense of batteries.)
The manufacturer points out that short-term weight and diagnostic value deviations usually only caused within a few days by liquid changes. To interpret the diagnostic results and their long-term changes to detailed explanations, refer to the instructions.
The scale should be placed on firm level floor, a firm floor covering is required for correct weight measurement. (My copy is from my weight about 7 kg too little when it is on Flauschteppich with two of its piezo-feet on the bathroom tile floor and the other two, and to 9 kg too little when it is fluffy with a foot.) To clean the scale may not be immersed in water. With proper operation of the manufacturer grants a five year warranty.
Conclusion: best neutral By design, the scale is technically a well thought out product with sufficient accuracy. To bear in mind when buying is the lack of display lighting. Of particular note is the associated guidance for interpretation of diagnostic values and the explanation of their limitations, which is apparently created by professionals and very helpful for those interested.
