With this CD I have come for the first time in the enjoyment of one of the (alleged) bach`schen cello suites on the viola da gamba to hear, an instrument so its musical history Background seems to be really suitable on closer inspection, to meet these six solo works "justice". This is especially true in the recorded here Solo Suite (No.5), because you can assume that it was written in "original condition" for the sounds, which promotes the adaptation of the viol and opposite the cello version - what the possibilities of polyphonic As for the game - definitely has advantages. Especially nice thing is that the character of the C minor Suite by the sound of the viola da gamba at introversion still wins, and the game of the interpreter brings the wonderful simplicity of the music to the fore. This gillt for the second work of the CD, which is also a good contrast to the stream. Here, however, this time is the fun of playing most beautifully festgehallten, with harpsichord accompaniment. The gamba player can now prove that their instrument is also suited to shine here. The last work, again by JS Bach, is an adaptation of his third gamba sonata, which gained a wonderful new, emotional transparency by occupying the harpsichord voices with gamba, lute and violin and the work thus can be a great treat for the listener, not less than one of the "Brandenburg Concertos". An absolute delight.
