Bose ® SoundLink ® Wireless Mobile Speaker Dark Gray Nylon (Electronics)

Customer Review

The search for the perfect mobile speaker has finally come to an end! The small SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker Bose beats all other speakers I know hands down! What Bose has since magic of sound, almost bordering on magic! The only drawback might be the somewhat high price to see, but when I look at what Tivoli demands for PAL, or Jawbone Jambox for that sound like toys compared to the Bose is not overpriced by far.

The audio sources connect to the SoundLink Bluetooth or via Aux cable, rear is a 3.5 mm jack available. Many complain that Apple's Airplay Bose has not included, but then the speaker would have been even more expensive due to the licenses to Apple certainly, also makes Airplay for mobile playback little sense since Airplay always an additional router is needed. Despite the Bluetooth SoundLink has no hands-free function. Rear a USB port is available, the only possible updates is. What there is yet to come, I can not imagine a microphone has not the device, including hands-free in the future will not be possible. Known, the audio quality will be considered in Bluetooth transfer affected. Some Bluetooth devices can be heard especially in the high range a typical "hunting" but also Fiepsen. Even the Jambox has as little trouble and produced in Bluetooth transmission noise. When SoundLink me is so far nothing negative attention, perhaps Bose optimized internally the sound even eingermaßen. Poorly coded MP3 files also sound at SoundLink bad.

The SoundLink is as big as an average book, or a kitchen radio about. The design has a retro touch and contrasts with the modern-organic design of Logitech. I must honestly admit that I more satisfied with the design of Bose and the speaker is very discreet with the flip is closed Cover. The covers are available in different colors and can exchange information. There are both "normal" variants of nylon, as well as more expensive leather. To operate the cover is folded back like the iPad and then acts as a stand. When close the SoundLink is automatically turned off. The built-in battery has 23Wh and should be exchanged if it is time zuneige. The battery is held by the same Torx screws as the screws of the exchangeable cover. According to Bose There are no spare batteries, but it is probably too early. The battery life I have not been able to accurately measure, but the details of According Bose he should keep 3-4 hours at maximum volume, or 8 hours, and more at normal volume.
I can imagine that even the battery lasts more than 10 hours. The information in this regard were already at the portable SoundDock very cautious.

The SoundLink would certainly be seen as "cheap" alternative to the SoundDock Portable, for someone who wants to be more portable, or even no Apple dock required. The Sounlink sounds very similar, of course, he can not compete at the maximum volume the SoundDock. In direct comparison to Sounddock notice that the bass is similar punchy from much smaller and almost half lighter SoundLink, but voted differently. The SoundDock goes deeper, the bass from the SoundLink takes place more in the upper part and is louder, although it may sound fast wummig especially in small rooms. The treble is a bit more reserved than the SoundDock, total remains the sound in itself but very round and balanced and above all, surprising and fully grown. True stereo separation is of course hardly be expected at this size, but for a mobile speaker also not absolutely necessary. Instead of a waveguide as the Bose SoundDock is similar as with the Computer Music Monitor, the extremely "large" sound for its small dimensions, two opposing passive radiators a. Supposedly would be 60cm long, to allow a corresponding bass at this frame size a Waveguide. For that reason passive radiators are the only viable alternative. The two built-in SoundLink passive radiators are reinforced by a patented "Waffle framework". The fact that they are opposed to, Bose minimizes the dissemination of the vibrations to the housing. The Jambox from Jawbone example has a single passive radiator back of the addition, the mass of the batteries abused for tuning, making the Jambox cheerful rumhüpft at louder levels ahead. Bose has also managed to split the tuning of the radiators in a sophisticated way for the bass, so the rear radiator seems to be chiefly responsible for the lower bass frequencies, where the front rather takes over the upper bass range. 2 chassis are fitted per channel, both clearly reflect the full frequency range, a separation according to height / middle I could not festellen.

Sonically the SoundLink is a real stunner. Just when you want to be mobile, and still enjoy a full sound, there are few alternatives. If I were to criticize anything, the slightly exaggerated abgestimmen Bass. I would the area around 100Hz runterregeln a trace and easy adjusting of at the heights at 12-14khz, then the sound would be perfect and truly unrivaled for a device of this size. I let the SoundLink times compete against a slightly larger but also much cheaper and highly acclaimed Logitech S715i speaker. For mains operation Logitech does not sound bad, but he's pitched at the highs and the bass is not nearly as powerful. In battery mode, the Logitech sounds only half as well, and is clearly inferior by the maximum volume the SoundLink. The Logitech sounds outdoors as a cheap whistle, the SoundLink however, like a big speaker. Also is the battery from Logitech after 30 minutes at full volume the ghost. By width of Logitech's hard to tuck into a normal backpack, the Bose could at a pinch even in a ladies pocket.
The maximum volume of the SoundLink is relatively high, and for my taste more than adequate. The volume is definitely higher than in most other portable speakers, which he does not arrive naturally against the major competitors such as Altec Lansing MIX. Distortions are not to hear the SoundLink despite maximum volume. The counteracts the intelligent DSP algorithm Bose and optimizes the sound reproduction for each volume. At maximum volume while the bass is withdrawn and the peaks compressed, but the music still remains intact and audible. Also, the Altec Lansing MIX compressed at high volume and regulates back the bass and even the Harman Kardon Go + Play portable environments sounds of batteries not as punchy as the small SoundLink, with the Go + Play of course higher levels creates.

Who has always been looking for a compact speaker on the go and at the same time to make as few compromises in sound as possible, the you can recommend the SoundLink warmly, despite the high price. The unit is due to the size truly portable and can be stored anywhere and has, thanks to the powerful battery also enough power for longer durations or higher volumes. The sound is surprisingly full and grown, and it is really fun so that listening to music and sometimes loud untwist. Even outdoors, where portable speakers usually quickly run out of steam, the SoundLink sounds convincing and manages to produce a pleasing soundscape.

"Music always and everywhere," promises Bose and has in my opinion really right.

Addendum: In the meantime I use the SoundLink for 10 months almost every day. I have since compared him directly with the new BIG Jambox and still think that the SoundLink is unbeaten when it comes to sound / size. The Jambox is already larger, but does not create such adult sound like the SoundLink.
Many owners also complain that the SoundLink dull blade, or the bass would be too bulky. Also there's a simple trick: Because the SoundLink with the highest volume of the bass itself is reduced to avoid distortion, it can easily operate at maximum volume, and then turn down the volume as the player. Especially with low volumes of sound through this trick benefited enormously because heights are more present, the bass less wummig, but still powerful. Just be aware at the volume control on the player, as it is for correspondingly quiet volume already at the lowest end of the scale.
