Preliminary first: my three favorite composers are Verdi, Puccini and Benny & Björn. More than 10 years Les Miserables was my favorite musical and I've seen a corresponding number of performances in New York. But then came "Kristina från Duvemåla". At first I was not really skeptical, because just about everything, making of the two is just great and second to none. And then Kristina was still my favorite musical. The tone, the wealth of melody, the overall impression: wonderful. Sure, Les Miserable is much better known, although the French original version was a flop; but if you enter reads into the story through various fan pages of ABBA and the musical, then this is simply gigantic and romantic and has in the "Battery" scene (southern tip of Manhattan) much word comedy, because the incoming Sweden Americans only misverstehen by word confusions. A trio between tenors and baritone reminded me somehow in the beautiful harmony mergers at the famous duet from Bizet's Pearl Fishers "Au font du temple saint". Superstar of the original recording is certainly Helen Sjöholm, the Benny's favorite singer is ... also in the new version of "Chess på Svenska" by the way. I think sometimes when Verdi or Puccini would compose today, then the sounds probably like Benny and Björn. Music historians will certainly me as countered fiercely, but the beauty in things harmonies of voices and orchestral arrangements is a bohemian in every way. Chess, in particular the new version in Swedish is certainly very nice, especially the new version for "Kristina" was written and elements, also in the choir has that were not listed in the O version (especially the scene with the review of Hungary, when the tank mount up and very melancholy tones sound as a tingle down your spine, especially when you put it on the stage looks or on DVD). The only thing I did not like about Kristina are the moments when Benny and Björn musically evoke the Popzeiten and incorporate for conformity with moments. As Tom Hanks yes ABBA fan seems to be, although I do not really look at "Mamma Mia" as a "real" musical, although I have seen it several times and also the DVD and have BluRay, but Kristina as a film with the original singers: the would the blast. As I think of impressions from the Otello with Placido Domingo film or Lord of the Rings, where the less fit, because fantasy is. Only I'm afraid that will not happen, because the musical is to be unknown to the masses.
