Operation: Mindcrime 2 (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Disappointed the official successor all those who had already written off Queensryche after three more or less streaky albums: 18 years after "Mindcrime Operation". "Operation: Mindcrime II" features many trademarks, which once made so irresistible the band without the just 60 minutes striking intense sound by Mindcrime I - or else any Queensryche album None of their (good) albums sounded ever like another, released maybe just two years later, is why I'm going to do a hell and this surprisingly great work.. 'only' give four stars, just because it 'Operation: Mindcrime II "was titled and must be therefore be compared with the never to be taken first Mindcrime album But since it is the sequel, Queensryche were the plate hardly" Babe: Pig. - Final Revenge "call and a copy of the 1988 musical marvel would probably no one really wanted this predicament are Queensryche elegant escape -.. the best album since" Promised Land "(1994). Mindcrime II is finally back heavy. So the fan is inclined equally attuned to the up-tempo crusher I'M AMERICAN on punchy power, as he has been missing for many years. Also SIGNS SAY GO moves in rousing "Revolution Calling" - "The Needle Lies" - Power range. Absolutely outstanding, however, is RE-ARRANGE YOU, the same way I would have to Mindrime with singing heights until it stops in the chorus can be. Otherwise, the reminiscences of the 'original' rather anecdotal, but is the successor to a total of more rock (eg ONE FOOT IN HELL or the beginning of A JUNKIE'S BLUES) and eccentric atmosphere a bit darker. The guitar work - as well as much longer - makes anyway a great contribution to qualitative resurrection, although not a direct copy or imitation of old strengths. Finally, the guitars are not tuned down and sound in the melodic solos back Metal. Even parallel twin solos played there again, although not as extensive and elegant as on Mindcrime I. Chris DeGarmo's just no substitute. Still surprised his successor Mike Stone, who has the game obviously very well consulted - even as a songwriter. Together with Geoff Tate and producer Jason Slater goes Mindcrime II on his cap. The result is not a single bad or 'strange' song. For proper style features best Queensryche-days as an acoustic guitar verse as a counterpart to the heavy chorus in Groove giants HOSTAGE, or even in FEAR CITY SLIDE: The lead guitar plays a chord progression and then only sets Geoff Tate's vocals a, to this inimitable driving rhythm guitar , Many are likely to evaluate Mindcrime II probably premature, while a few are Hördurchläufe hip, which has nothing to do with 'nice to hear'. Because the album is less catchy than Mindcrime I. The big anthems like "I Do not Believe In Love" or "Eyes Of A Stranger" is missing, and it more epic elements come into play, with three guest vocalists partly the transition from the concept album to make metal opera. With Pamela Moore, the 'Original'-Sister Mary is: In the backings to ONE FOOT IN HELL (prima incorporated into the story, as in the lyrics just the memories of her return), with an aggressively demanding vocal part at the end of SPEED OF LIGHT, in a line at MURDERER? And of course with two vocal duets with Geoff Tate in dramatic An Intentional CONFRONTATION and finally the wistful conclusion ALL THE PROMISES that a little "I Will Remember" with melancholic acoustic guitars - exudes flair. Not only song "Duets", but also a - "Duel" is: The evil Dr. X gets at THE CHASE with the great Ronnie James Dio shape. And even Geoff Tate's daughter Miranda Tate has a powerfully emotional singing performance, as an outsider observer in IF I COULD CHANGE IT ALL. Several songs use not ordinary verse-bridge-chorus pattern, so the album should be heard not only by one time quickly. Especially the churned exciting MURDERER? with the subsequent "My Empty Room" successor CIRCLES, then IF I COULD CHANGE IT ALL erratic as emotional 'lament' with the church choir-ending as reminiscent of "Suite Sister Mary", the dramatic An Intentional CONFRONTATION and A Junkie's Blues with total break after the hard rock intro, and then steadily dramatic increase present extraordinary suspense here - signifying partially more than one track. Finally there are goosebumps when the dramatic modulations at the end of JUNKIE'S BLUES suddenly refined pass into "Anarchy X" sites of Mindcrime I - one of several quotations of the original album, as well as the Clean Guitar chords in the hands, the verse the make of "I Do not Believe In Love" shortly again present, or almost mesmerizing border chorus of the hands, reminiscent of "The Mission". In Mindcrime I style to the ever-recurring high backings that Queensryche move properly good job even without the help Chris DeGarmos. In addition, Scott Fields rock varied drums no longer sound so much like Metal in years. The ultimate finishing touches gets concept album by Geoff Tate's persuasive and coherent written story. Nikki is released after 18 years in prison, in an environment that has not improved especially for him. The memory of his entanglements with evil Dr.X and the longing for the murdered Mary propel him to bloody revenge. The lyrics are written stringent and consistent manner and contain Queensryche-typically several swipes on politics and society. The specific hatred and desire for action perfectly complements the drama of the music, captivating as since Mindcrime I no longer. Convincing applied orchestrations support the high emotionality, above all, does this Geoff Tate, who has lost in all these years none of its powers of persuasion and his vocal lines with delicate Breaks's acting than singing some more between leidsam melancholic and urgent expressive. And in addition, this time also the guitars back its share of the overall dramatic expression. Operation: Mindcrime II is definitely not 'just' re better than the three albums before, but lines up easily for the former quality standards of the band in the top works a.

"Last time, missed my chance but never again,
The furtheraway you slip, the more I'll dig in.
All things come around again
And this time I'll be ready and waiting. "(Nikki, RE-ARRANGE YOU)
