- Use of aptX protocol for quality and time (almost) instantaneous transmission of the audio signal
Function Permanent connection to a power source, ie, the device must, if it has one battery, even while charging -
There are only two aptX-enabled Bluetooth transmitter for audio signals that are currently available on the German market: the Avantree Saturn (Avantalk BTTC-200) and the Jaybird uSport. The uSport eliminated relatively quickly, because this definitely can not be used while charging.
So did the Avantree Saturn.
If you followed the reviews on Amazon.com and Amazon.com, are the ghosts, whether one can use while charging the device or not:
WAMMP28 on 04/02/2013 at Amazon.com: ". Too bad it does not work with infected charging cable; it was known with the purchase and should not be a reason to avoid this device"
Pinkepunk on 14/10/2012 at Amazon.com: "No function while the battery via USB is loaded."
ZZC from 17.12.2012 on Amazon.com: "During Charging this unit sometimes works, sometimes does not work."
The manufacturer advertises itself with this functionality: "Charge the battery to the USB port of a PC (also works while charging)"
An inquiry to the seller E-Lektron gave then a clear answer: "The transmitter works even when charging cable is connected, however, it may be that in case of power interruption, the transmitter switches off, the transmitter must be switched on manually in the case and that works even during.. of the store. "
And this I can fully confirm! At least the Transmit mode also works during charging!
The pairing between the Sennheiser MM 550-X and the Avantree Saturn is completed smoothly and in a few seconds. Since the Avantree Saturn also a plugged charger cable after a certain period of inactivity is in an idle state, one pairing may need on both sides (ie headphones and transmitters) initiate, although both already "know" (is therefore somewhat different than the phone and the handsfree in the car where the pairing happens automatically, at least for me :-)).
A few more notes:
- There are sometimes permanent transfer problems if you leave the detection range of the transmitter shortly. Here you must re-pairing.
- (Also known as RCA) Connecting the transmitter to the RCA outputs of the stereo is possible; the input of the transmitter can also be easily overridden, if necessary, which manifests itself in an unpleasant creaking in headphones. Therefore better connect to the headphone output.
- A gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanz slight delay can be heard when one operates on the stereo speakers and headphones at the same time; we are talking about but felt less than 50 milliseconds (sounds like a slight echo). Lip sync (when connecting to the TV) is guaranteed definitely!
Conclusion: 5 stars, strong buy recommendation.
