The 600 is not for nothing that the smallest PVR in the world. A very small, noble-looking box in timeless black with silver accents. The high quality of workmanship completes the very good first impression. Even if the Dreambox is always labeled as a product of "techies": The "Otto-Normal-consumer" needs to deal with the box not to shy away from. On The Contrary. It is a "normal" satellite receiver, which is small, quick & easy to use. For the tech savvy users do thanks to the Linux operating system still in very different ways. In addition, you can always record the TV program thanks installable 2.5 "hard drive.
In the almost unlimited possibilities of the box, I could here now Seitenweise about hardware, write functions, etc.. However, I do not want to digress and very'm just saying that I've been missing no function in my Dreambox & Dreambox of all satellite receivers which I've seen definitely the best SDTV picture. Who needs more information, may like to study the data sheet on the manufacturer's site.
As far as I ultimately may seek: I really find hard criticisms of the 600. Only a further smart card reader would have been desirable. Unfortunately, DivX support is lacking. But that's about it.
I would now again buy a satellite receiver, I would not engage again to Dreambox 600. And for a very simple reason: I would take the Dreambox 800. This is almost identical to the 600, but also provides HDTV enjoyment. Those who do not need (or whom the 800 is too expensive), can strike completely unconcerned with the 600. Whether now "average consumer" or "techie".
