"The Encyclopedia of Hobbit" is performed using four (Damien Bador, Vivien Stocker, Coralie Potot and Dominique Vigot) and several contributors who work in the shadows, and provide a remarkable tool. It is not necessary to be a lover of the works of JRR Tolkien to enjoy this precious "Encyclopedia Hobbit", but just flip through this book to be inevitably drawn to this treasure (which is full of details) and reads easily. Upon introduction, we learn some surprising things. It is reported that in the '60s (early Seventh Age), the Beatles had offered help to the author to produce their own film adaptation of the story that Tolkien refused. The encyclopedia is then cut into seven main chapters (which can be read out of order), who first present the main characters of the story but also the creatures and objects that populate this secondary world, describe places adventure and (very interesting) remarkable events (like Age of Middle-earth), and also the myths and legends that shape the adventure of Bilbo Bessac where (Mr.) Tolkien drew inspiration. Illustrated sketches and drawings (Xavier Sanchez and Sandrine Gestin), the book is presented with a nice layout (the seven chapters taking a different hue every time). "The Encyclopedia of Hobbit" is an interesting book (very sharp), for all age groups having approached near or far the world of Middle-earth, and deepens (quickly) knowledge (essential) of this Long heroic saga.
