In the third volume of its debut trilogy Cassandra Clare linked now finally all the loose ends, which had to remain open to the volumes "City of Bones" and "City of Ashes". What happens to Clarys mother? If Simon can forgive her? And what is between her and Jace?
Friendship, Love, enmity, hatred, past and one's own identity and the search for a peaceful solution - in spite of these known themes, the author manages to convey a dense and wonderful story in the mind's eye of the reader to life. City of Glass contains, as well as its predecessors, a lot of amusing dialogues, thoughtful passages and wordplay, which excels particularly in the English language.
The uniqueness of the characters, coupled with the lively and sometimes very word and joke rich style tie until the last second. Although the reader's response to some questions by their sheer obviousness should already be known before they are dissolved in the official course of history, this does not contribute to reduction of stress. It is rather the opposite: the story builds up to the climax ever to be used to develop the characters, any changes to its settings, each stage of its realization up to the relevant knowledge, they have to do and what sacrifices must bring them, and as the finale, the final encounter between the warring parties finally comes, there is nothing more than great pomp and fanfare.
Quietly, almost melancholic, ending the fight, be completed as many wars in silence and not with great fanfare. Yet Cassandra Clare does not forget also here that even the supporting characters a happy ending due ... and that life goes on.
As for the declaration of nearly forgotten hints the last volumes, the resolution of old conflicts and linking loose threads, the author accomplishes wonders here. The honesty, the characters make the finally the seemingly hopeless situation and the sacrifices that have to be accommodated, let the third band from the beginning until the end to a successful reading event. Absolutely realistic records the author on the history of a war that seems unrealistic and dull in any way if one transfers the functions and actions of the respective characters in our world. Certainly, a little fantasy is. It is ultimately a fantasy novel.
But he who loves such fanciful stories, who likes to travel to exotic worlds and together with the main characters fighting against dark forces and cruel fathers - the was this book definitely, definitely recommended.
