Coldplay is a mixture of pop and rock, it offered both quiet and groovy pieces with beautiful lyrics. The first two albums (see above) are clearly rock-heavy and my feeling after this also more versatile than the next, coming in the later albums more and more electronic components are used. But applies here as so often a matter of taste.
